About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I have just moved to the Netherlands so I'm enjoying learning about Dutch culture, exploring the area and meeting new people!

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Rebecca. I love to travel, try new things and meet new people. I'm easy going, friendly, polite, considerate, trustworthy, mature and very interested in learning more about the world.

I've started to love learning languages and have been learning French & Spanish for the past 1-2 years. I've also started to learn Dutch now too!

I enjoy having a few glasses of wine over a good meal. I like playing and watching tennis and practice yoga on a regular basis. I don't smoke. I love dogs (and most other animals actually...)!

PHILOSOPHY

At the end of your life, the things that matter won't be the things you own, they will be the people around you and the experiences that you've had. I plan to collect as many people and experiences as possible!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As part of my Americas-Adventure in 2015, I tried couchsurfing for the first time - staying with locals so I could get to know more about the places, their history, as well as meeting cool people who know the best local spots! It was amazing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed a number of couches on my way through the USA and it was amazing! So many great people, experiences and stories to tell. I've also met-up with a few fellow CSers for a bit of company along the way. I hope to be able to return the favor one day and become a host once I get a permanent "couch" 😊

Interests

Travel, tennis, yoga, the beach, bushwalking/hiking, books/reading, indoor rock climbing, good food and wine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love most books, music and movies and don't really have any lasting favourites. My most recent list might give you a bit of insight though :)

The most recent books I read were Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer, Che Guevera's Motorcycle Diaries and A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. [Updated list: Wild by Cheryl Strayed, The 100 yr old man that climbed out of the window, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Huckleberry Finn, and Anne Frank's Diary]

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm, well it's hard to narrow down so here are a few of my favourite experiences: I've hiked mountains, gone bungy jumping, swam with exotic sea life and learnt about sustainable practices through volunteering at organic farms.

Teach, Learn, Share

I hope to practice French and Spanish where possible. I've started learning and can read/speak a little of both but I'd like to improve! I've only just started to learn Dutch but can hold very basic conversations :)

I can teach Australian slang? The basic principles of contract law? How to play chopsticks on the piano? C scale on the trumpet? Maybe we can even cook a meal or practice yoga together?
