About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To spread the word about the power and wonder of books and indy bookstores!

ABOUT ME

We like making jokes and puns. We do artsy comedy shows that include free jazz, puppetry and live animated comics. We are getting ready to tour the country in support of Andy's book on community bookstores and the publishing industry. We have toured regularly as part of the band and opening act of Seth Tobocman, co-founder of World War 3 Illustrated Magazine.
Andy has an MA in Community Economic Development. He also studied Jazz at Chicago's ACM school. He runs a bookstore and is a published author, writing about independent bookstores and a zen philosophy or entrepreneurship.
Rebecca has a Masters in Communication and an MFA in English and Writing. She does political comics and a feminist erotic poetic webcomic called Rosetta Stone (Xena meets Shakespeare meets Julie Doucet?)
We like animals but are both allergic to cats and to a lesser degree, dogs (except poodles). We have a poodle ourselves who usually stays with friends when we travel. We like craft beer and red wine. We do not smoke tobacco.
We are very easygoing and polite, and often generous to a fault. We enjoy young people and our grown children still like us, which says a lot!
Andy has lived in Paris and Japan and also speaks some Spanish and a little Arabic.

PHILOSOPHY

Everyone on this earth is precious and deserves dignity, freedom, nourishment, shelter and love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are new to this experience and are looking to be a part of the community of fellow travelers and warriors in the good fight. We have very strong convictions about social justice. As independent business people we recognize that true security doesn't come from accumulating wealth, it comes from community and a sense of belonging. This is the ethos that we want to model and further in the world. We engage in this process through writing and performing, mentoring younger people, and developing networks among like-minded folks.
