About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My life philosophy is simple: "Leave it better than you found it."

ABOUT ME

I am a fun and active 29 year old with a zest for life. I work as a teacher and am a former environmental educator. In 2015 and 2016, I co-ordinated a 6 day Water Festival for 6,000 kids in grades 2-5. You can read about it here: https://www.peelregion.ca/pw/chwaterfest/

In my spare time, I run marathons, and I am a Special Olympics swimming, baseball, and track & field coach. I enjoy travelling and have been hooked since a trip to Scandinavia in 2008. I went to London in 2012 for the Olympics, did a 6 week Euro trip in 2014, visited California in 2015 for 2 weeks, did a volunteer trip in Guatemala in November of 2015, and did 9 weeks in Eastern Europe + Spain in 2016.

My game plan for 2017 is to drive across Canada in July/August. It's Canada's 150th Birthday so it seems like a cool way to celebrate!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's fun to connect with people from around the world who are excited to show you their city and want you to experience their culture. My first CS experience was in Paris at the end of my solo-Euro trip in 2014. When I went to California, I met up with a really cool guy in Los Angeles who I met on CS who actually took care of me when I got heat exhaustion from sitting outside in the sun watching the Special Olympics World Games :).

I hope that the people I meet while Couchsurfing will come and visit me one day so I can show them the great aspects of life in Canada, and that we don't all live in igloos :)
