About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See the world, learn about different cultures, see wild landscapes and animals and eat lots of good food. Helping those less fortunate in any way I can.
ABOUT ME
Hi everyone!
I am a British native who has been on the road for over 4 years with my wife. I am not currently in NZ as my profile states, but travelling around.
I love to be out and about, mostly in places of natural beauty, woods/lakes/mountains etc. They just feel so calming, relaxing and inspiring. I could live with my wife in a simple, secluded hut perched high on a mountainside or deep in the woods or on the rocky shore of a lake and be content! I also love trail running, hiking, climbing, cooking, reading, watching films, exploring, studying eastern philosophies and learning new skills.
I have tattoos and piercings, I am vegan (90% of the time, but unfortunately when travelling, this is not always possible) and straight edge (no drinking, smoking or drug use).
I am very open minded and I love meeting and talking to people with whom i have a few common interests.
I am married to the most amazing woman ever: (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/shortycharly).
I will not tolerate homophobic, bigoted or narrow minded people. There is just no need for it, there is already enough hate in the world.
PHILOSOPHY
'Buy the ticket, take the ride'
We are dedicated to giving as greenly and earth friendly as our situation allows. We are big on recycling, creating as little waste as we can, buying preloved instead of new and trying to reduce our footprint. We don't just to take from the earth, we like to try and give back too, when we can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would like to think that I can teach everyone I meet one thing they didn't already know. I love to share thoughts, ideas and philosophies.
When hosting people, we try and make their stay as nice as possible. It is the little gestures people remember and can make such a big difference to someone's stay. We know this first hand from being surfers.
Whether we are hosting or surfing, we always strive to be very polite, clean, helpful, make friends with everyone and have great conversations.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couchsurfed in Morocco and Australia and met many great people and learned many different things. Hosted people in Dunedin, NZ and was able to see a whole different side to couchsurfing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Too many for just one thing...
Laying out in the middle of a field at night with my wife and watching loads of shooting stars. Magical :)
Going to the Atlas mountains in Morocco.
Seeing the phytoplankton at rainbow beach, Australia
Getting a traditional shan tattoo in Myanmar
Going on a 3 day motorbike tour into the mountains and staying with the hill tribes in Myanmar
Trekking in Nepal and seeing wild rhinos.
Standing a couple of metres away from burning bodies in Varanassi.
Snorkelling with some of the most venomous and friendliest snakes in the world whilst being in the clearest waters in the world in Niue.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you want to know about teeth (not as strange as it sounds...I'm a qualified dental nurse ), horses, vegan/raw food, nutrition or how to use a chainsaw, then I can probably teach you something!
I know a little about a lot, but always want to learn more, so if you have anything to teach me then i am open to learning.
What I Can Share with Hosts
That vegan food taste awesome!
But seriously, i am more than happy to answer any sensible questions you may have about being vegan or nutrition. Its a passion of mine, so if you are genuinely interested, I would be happy to help.
