About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am currently travelling through Mexico for the first time, starting with Mexico City. I will be In Mexico for a little over three months and hope to get to know the country as much as possible as well as improve my Spanish!

ABOUT ME

I am a 29 year old from Sydney who loves to travel and meet new people. My first experiences came from visiting my large family in Malaysia throughout my childhood. I properly caught the travel bug in 2008 when I backpacked through South East Asia. Since then, I have made exploring the world one of my main priorities. I travelled to India for a few months before moving to London in 2010 on a working holiday visa, and enjoyed using it as a base to visit other parts of Europe. On my way back home to live in Australia at the start of 2012, I spent a month in an ashram in the Bahamas and briefly visited the US before spending a few months backpacking in South America, starting in Colombia and finishing in Argentina.

When I am not travelling, I am usually saving to travel! I work as a social worker and have been in a few different areas including working with homeless people, in a hospital and with carers.

Aside from travel, I really value my friends and family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have friends who have had really positive experiences couchsurfing through this website and so I would like to give it a try. Both hosting and surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to couchsurfing through this website community but have had experiences couchsurfing as part of my travels. I was "adopted" by a lovely Colombian family in Popayan and I stayed with them about 2 weeks in total. I found it a wonderful experience and we remain in touch. I have couchsurfed with existing friends and family in places including Barcelona, Ennis in Ireland, London, Malaysia,Tasmania, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, the Blue Mountains (3 hours outside Sydney) and India. I have hosted existing friends including from the UK,US, Brazil, Germany and across Australia. As these situations have largely been with existing friends and family, I have enjoyed the experience of catching up as well as exploring a place together, where perhaps we had never been together before. I would love to have new experiences with members of this couchsurfing community as a great opportunity to meet interesting and open people from around the world.

Interests

I enjoy meditation, yoga, hanging out with friends and generally chilling out. I love the outdoors and trying different activities eg trekking, kayaking. I love travelling the world!! I occasionally play guitar and enjoy all types of music. I particularly like going out to drum n bass and psytrance but I am not too fussy about this.

I enjoy going to art galleries when I have the opportunity although I am no expert on art!

I like to travel slowly and not rush places or have things too hectic if possible.
