About Me

Me and my fiancée Thomas come as a pair, we have been together for over 9 years now. We saved for 7 years to come travelling and see the world together, and now our years of hard work have paid off and we're finally living the dream!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are travelling the world together and love to meet new people and have new experiences. We have previously volunteered for different organizations and charities and we prefer the more authentic experience of a place you get staying with someone who calls it home to the 'tourist bubble' of travelling from hostel to hostel.

Interests

We are interested in pretty much everything! I have a passion for history and am currently starting to put together a podcast (online radio show) about women in history. Most history is shown from the male perspective, you rarely get to find out what it was like for the women so I'm trying to find out as much about that as I can so I can share that knowledge with the world for free. Me and my boyfriend write short stories, and we draw and paint also. We are not yet the best writers and artists but practice makes perfect and travelling provides so much inspiration for all kinds of art. We are both also quite physically active, we enjoy water in particular; swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, and sailing. Tom has done much more sailing than me, as his father has a sailboat, but I am enthusiastic and a fast learner. We love games of all kinds, from sports to card games and board games. We have also created our own board game, fabula nebula, which is almost finished and
we hope to get made when we return home after our travels. We also enjoy geocaching, which is a worldwide treasure hunt game that you play using a GPS device such as a smartphone. We are also both passionate about science, and physics and the universe are fascinating to us. Basically, we love to learn :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Again, this is such a big question as our interests are so broad! We will read anything, but we particularly love to read fantasy and science fiction and history novels, as well as non fiction novels about science and economics and the world. Musically we like a wide variety of stuff, I especially like folk music, electronic music and world music, and tom likes funk, soul and jazz but we will happily listen to anything :) movies and tv again the same. We are happy to give and take recommendations for reading watching and listening :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The fun amazing things:

Saw a turtle laying eggs and some baby hatchlings being released into the sea

Saw orangutans and proboscis monkeys in the wild

Climbed a volcano in Indonesia to see the beautiful sunrise

Volunteered for a week in an elephant sanctuary and helped look after three retired elephants, 19 dogs and 43 cats

The scary amazing thing:

In Indonesia we (Tom mainly) saved a guy's life. It's a long story not really suited to a couchsurfing bio but we would be more than happy to share it in person.

Teach, Learn, Share

Between us we know lots about history and science and we have a lot of general knowledge about all kinds of things that we would be happy to share. I also have some specific business management knowledge and tom is a chemist by trade so we can share this with you if it's something you are interested in. In return we would love to learn anything you have to offer, especially any knowledge about local culture, language, cooking, history and things to do :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are a friendly, enthusiastic and hard working couple that are willing to share with hosts all of our knowledge and offer two extra pairs of hands if needed for anything.
