About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Me and my husband, Rion are currently seeking to become vagabonds. We often talk about our plans to travel the world and were ecstatic when a friend told us about couch surfing. We want to learn about people and culture through the locals eyes.
ABOUT ME
We are happy people. We love the outdoors and all things Alaskan. We hunt, fish, trap, go 4x4ing, snowmachine (yes it is a snowmachine not a "snowmobile" ask any Alaskan). But as much as we love Alaska our greatest desire is to travel the world. We want to travel across Europe, drink real Guinness and hear local bands in Ireland, learn to surf in Australia, gaze upon the blue Ocean in Santorini, sit on the beach in Antigua, eat traditional Thai food in Thailand and that is just to name a few. We have a passion for adventure and new experiences that we just can't seem to quench. We seek to be true to ourselves as we learn more about the world and people around us. We love meeting new people and hearing about your passions as well.
We recently (within the last year) opened our own mobile coffee shop. We converted a Chevy Stepside Truck into our Coffee Shop and due to the business and busyness of summer are unable to accept guests for the night. Summer time in Alaska, where we literally work till the sun goes down 😉 but you are more than welcome to stop by the coffee shop, and hang out and talk to us!
PHILOSOPHY
Rion- Go with the flow. Just let it be.
Rebekah-
I am a gypsy soul, never satisfied to stay in one place too long. I love road trips and all kinds of slow paced adventures. I want to see the world and live my life in my own pace. I don't like being controlled or told what to do. I am obsessed with coffee because I believe everyone deserves to have a quiet perfect cup of coffee or tea multiple times a day. We all need those little moments to recharge and feel the moment we are living in. I adore peace and quiet but also am drawn to energizing events and people. I love dreadlocks, the woods, hippie things, and mushrooms!
"We are cups constantly and quietly being filed, the trick is knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out."- Ray Bradbury

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far we have met tons of couch surfers from our friends who host and the community of cs seems like our cup of tea. We have are excited to be hosting this summer and hopefully fall and can't wait to be surfing ourselves sometime in January.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
This summer will be our first time hosting but all of the couch surfers we have met have been incredible people.
We met a few guys who were surfing in the area. One of whom was walking across the world. He had put 11,000 miles on his feet! It was such an honor being able to share a meal with him and his friend. They were full of light and energy and hearing about the generosity and kindness of people in the world lifted our spirits.
Another time we met a surfer who was traveling alone. She was an artist and spoke very little English, but some things don't need to be said with words. She was amazed and intrigued by Alaska and spoke continually of the beautiful land. It was such a pleasure being reminded that we live in one of the most beautiful places.
Interests
Rion loves cooking and often gets carried away when he smells something delicious, whether its a spice, fruit, or new kind of treat. We hunt and butcher all of our own game meat usually moose, caribou, and if we are lucky dall sheep. We also catch Salmon, Halibut, and Rock fish through the summer months. So he has some really great recipes for the wildlife. We both love outdoors adventures and often go fly fishing, there are tons of local hidden spots around and we are more than happy to share with those who love the land as much as we do. We also are a logging family so Rion can tell you lots about our tree and fauna life. We love telling and hearing stories around a bonfire, like times long ago. I love photography, usually portrait work and often have a camera in my hands. We both love writing poetry. We often discuss such things as philosophy, psychology, and our zombie apocalypse plan. We are a couple dreamers, adventurers, and are passionate about those things we love.

Music, Movies, and Books
Any post apocalyptic books or book series. I adored the Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras series.
I love all of Jane Yolen's Work. Especially the Pit Dragon Trilogy.
We recently read the first four books in the Ender's Game Series. And loves every line.
Ronia the Robber's Daughter will always be one of my favorites. But in all honest I have read tons of books that I adore and can't list them all.
Movies oh the list is endless. Pretty much all Science Fiction, Marvel Superhero, or Space-like movies are in our collection or to-be-purchased list. We don't watch horror generally but other than that we like most Tv.
We recently have been watching Big Bang Theory, Spartacus, and Game of Thrones.
Music is a wide vast array in our lives. Rion and I both hang pretty heavy on Indie genre's and sub genre's. Lana Del Ray and other Southern Gothic is always mixed in, some techno, 90's rock, pop, hip-hop and R&B are all good choices.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
All this is probably best expressed in person! So come visit us!!!
Teach, Learn, Share
Hunting, from moose calls to tracking to processing the meat. We can definitely help.
Trapping, from building snares to skinning and cleaning your animal, to selling the furs or even sewing them into clothes.
Photography, old school 35 mm black and white is the favorite but digital is happening also.
Logging and using a Sawmill, pulling chokers, running chain saw, and splitting fire wood. Also making 2x4's and building furniture.
Cooking. Fly Fishing. Shooting Guns. Crochet. Spinning Wheel Operation. Heavy Equipment Operating. Getting lost intentionally. Dancing in the rain.
