About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm intelligent in kind of a dorky words/language arts way. I love taboo topics and like to have reasoned debates about politics and religion. I'm curious, a little stubborn, somewhat eccentric, but overall pretty easygoing and I think I'm pretty fun to be around. :)
PHILOSOPHY
The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out; the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.
- Randy Pausch
Be happy for this moment; this moment is your life.
-Omar Khayyam
Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm totally new at this and appreciate suggetions!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I attended a CS meet-up at a bar in Compiègne, and witnesses an event in Paris around Christmas involving lots of Santas, music and fun, but so far that is it! Looking for more!
Interests
I practice yoga regularly. I love yoga and it keeps me centered. At home in the USA, I swim laps regularly, but in France I've been jogging (badly) instead. I love to read, right now I'm reading around the world in 80 days, by Jules Verne, in French. I'm also reading Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer. I love movies... So much so that my fiance and I are planning a movie-themed wedding for Spring 2013! The beach is one of my favorite places to be, but I also enjoy the mountains in spring and fall. I love language - when I go back to the USA I want to be a French teacher. In France, I listen to NPR and watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report to keep up with American news. I love music, especially new wave 80s!

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite movies include: The Labyrinth, The Nightmare before Christmas, What About Bob? (and pretty much anything else with Bill Murray), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, French Kiss, Amélie, Beauty and the Beast, Elf, Friday the 13th (the entire series), The Exorcist... I really like movies, and could keep going for awhile... As for TV Shows, I'm really into Once upon a time this season, the Walking Dead, Modern Family, The Office, Sex and the City is an all-time favorite, and I have a soft spot for the old 80s/90s show Perfect Strangers. And books? SO MANY. Le Petit Prince is my all-time favorite. Also really love old Stephen King, especially The Stand. The Game of Thrones series rocks. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Pride and Prejudice.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most recent moment was just two weeks ago when Jason proposed on Montmartre. :)
This may not be a big deal for some, but I have a pretty intense fear of heights so everytime I scale some awesome monument I feel pretty amazing. SO far, I've done The Empire State Building, The Eiffel Tower, and the Statue of Liberty.
I've also been scuba diving, including a night dive!
Teach, Learn, Share
I have some experience here - I AM an English teacher here in France (until May) and I hope to be a French teacher when I return to the USA. I'm definitely a newbie on CS though and welcome any tips or advice!
