About Me

ABOUT ME

I think I am a friendly and polite person, I always try to respect other people and their opinions. It is easy for me to get in touch with people. I am curious and like to see new places, make new experiences, learn new stuff. I like to meet new people, talk to them and hear their stories. Life is so interesting! I do like to talk myself too but I can also be quiet. I know what I want and I usually say what I think. I do hear from others from time to time that I am too direct but I just think it is good to be honest.

I was born and raised in Kleve, Germany and after studying and working in the Netherlands for 15 years I finally moved to Nijmegen, NL last year. I love my little house, especially the garden. I am living with a very friendly house mate and three cats, two of which are maine coons who are just a year old. They are very energetic and curious and follow me around all the time!

I am a German working and living in the Netherlands, which is a lot of fun cause there still is some kind of rivalty between the two countries but luckily on a fun making basis these days!;-) Actually you would think that those two countries are much alike but being in both countries almost everyday I do see many cultural differences, which is mostly interesting, often handy, sometimes funny but it can also be difficult. I did learn some very important things from my Dutch colleagues like for example that it is ok to speak up for yourself and that it is ok to tell your opinion. It has negative side as well cause it goes so far that it is expected of you and that if you don't take care of yourself people walk over your boundaries very easily. Also that working to live is ok and not living to work. That it is ok to ask for a day off if you wanna go to a party.

I work as a psychologist in two small little private practices. I worked in a rehab clinic before and in psychiatry for five years as sociotherapist, four years in a rehab clinic and one year in general psychiatric clinics. I also worked as research assistent. Before that I worked with kids who have autism and adhd.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life to the fullest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to be around people, I like to travel and to meet new people and thats exactly what couchsurfing is about!

I think staying at a friend's place, new friend or old one, is so much more interesting than staying at a hotel or at a hostel, even tho I also like staying at hostels cause it's also a great way to travel and to meet people. Staying with a local you usually get to know much more about the place you are staying, all the inside information about places and thing to do and to see that a book or a website can't give you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have only stayed with three couchsurfers until now but those were great experiences and I hope there will be many more! I did host some couchsurfers and all of them were great and friendly people and it was a pleasure to host them. One of my first CS guests even became my housemate for two years! :-)

Actually I have done the couchsurfing idea for many years already with my friends all over the world. I am travelling around for a long time already, mainly for concerts and I always meet people and many of them became friends. And I stay at their place and they at mine on a regular basis.

Interests

I love music and going to concerts, that's my big passion! And I love traveling, I want to see the world! If possible I try to combine going to concerts and traveling. I like doing sports but I should do it more often. I also like watching movies and tv series and reading books, thrillers are my favorite books. And I love cuddling with my cats, the perfect house mates!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC! I love music and going to concerts. I travel a lot for concerts. I have been all over Europe and to the US for concerts and festivals.

Favorite bands:
The Smith Street Band, The Menzingers, Chuck Ragan, Dave Hause, The Gaslight Anthem, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Hot Water Music, The Revival Tour, U2, Bad Religion, Feeder, Tim Barry, Apologies I have none, The Killers, Die Toten Hosen, Lucero, Red City Radio, Emily Barker, Northcote, Rob Lynch, Alkaline Trio, The Front Bottoms, Garbage, Snow Patrol, Oasis, Noel Gallagher, Cory Branan, Sam Russo, The Loved Ones

I read a lot, from early age on already. I like all kind of books but mostly I read thrillers like Karin Slaughter, Tess Gerritsen, Mo Hayder, Sebastian Fitzek, John Katzenbach. I also love Harry Potter and Lord of the rings. I just discovered ebooks. I still love real books and my big book shelf but ebooks are super handy for traveling. My suitcase is much lighter now when I go on holiday!

I like movies and tv series, all sorts of. It's sometimes good to escape reality and jump into another world and another time. I like super hero movies, all of them! Iron Man, Spider Man, X-Men, Batman, The Avengers, Fantastic Four. But also historic movies and dramas. Series I watch are Criminal Minds, The Mentalist, Greys Anatomy, Homeland, White Collar, Once upon a time, Orphan Black, Hawai Five-O, Game Of Thrones, Stranger Things, Scandal, The Blacklist.

And I LOVE Disney movies! I have seen them all and I love to see them over and over again! I have been to Disneyland Paris a couple of times and I went to Disney World in Orlando a few years ago and for me it really is the happiest place on earth!:-)
