About Me

Like you, I’m woven from stories—so here’s one of mine. I was born in the scorching summer of ’82, in the Heel of Italy, and almost didn’t make it. But for some unknown reason, I survived, and I’ve been fiercely embracing life ever since.

As I grew, the world opened its arms to me, and I found myself irresistibly drawn to writing, music, cinema, architecture, photography—anything that captures the essence of human experience. But what truly sets my soul on fire, what makes me feel fully alive, is travel. It’s not just a passion—it’s my faith, my compass, the journey that constantly reveals who I am and what it means to belong to this vast, beautiful, chaotic world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To connect with people. I believe we respect one another. I believe there’s something to be gained from sharing who we are, learning from each other along the way. I see people as roads, each one waiting for that moment when paths intersect and new directions unfold.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music spans a wide range, from the ethereal sounds of Active Child, Lissie, and Radiohead to the timeless classics of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Queen. I get lost in the raw emotion of Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice, and Ben Harper, while also vibing to the rhythmic energy of The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, and The White Stripes. Jazz legends like John Coltrane and Charles Mingus, the fusion of Buena Vista Social Club, Gotan Project, and Cake, and the electronic magic of Massive Attack and Portishead all find a place in my playlist, alongside rock giants like Foo Fighters, Muse, Deep Purple, and Dire Straits. Throw in some Ennio Morricone, Kings of Leon, Goldfrapp, Jack White, Arcade Fire, The National, and it's a sonic journey through genres and eras.

In film, I’m captivated by the genius of directors like Coppola, Allen, Kubrick, and Anderson, while the emotional depth of Eastwood, Scorsese, Fincher, and Spielberg never fails to leave an impression. I admire the visionary storytelling of Nolan, Tarantino, Kurosawa, and Fellini, while auteurs like Lynch, Godard, and Jarmusch continually challenge the boundaries of cinema. From the quirky brilliance of the Coen Brothers to the visual mastery of Ridley Scott, Antonioni, and Polanski, I love how films from Chaplin, Hitchcock, and Welles still hold their magic, and the boldness of modern storytellers like Jeunet, Almodóvar, and Soderbergh keep me hooked.

When it comes to books, I love diving into works that make me think and explore new perspectives. Books like "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond, "The Devil's Cup" by Allen, and "The Tipping Point" by Gladwell feed my curiosity. "On the Road" by Kerouac and "Ask the Dust" by Fante fuel my wanderlust, while classics like Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" and Bukowski's "Pulp" keep me grounded. From Ray Bradbury's "Zen in the Art of Writing" to "The Geography of Time" by Levine, and "The Antidote" by Burkeman, I’m always in search of new ideas and reflections on creativity, life, and human nature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The wind sweeping across Jeju Island. The sun slipping behind the towers of Angkor Wat. Humphrey Bogart locking eyes with Ingrid Bergman in *Casablanca*. Tears streaming down at my first Radiohead concert in the Arena di Verona. The sacred shrine at Miyajima nestled between the ocean and Japan’s rolling hills. Bukowski, Capossela, and Terzani reminding me how small and laughable our lives can be. The comforting sound and smell of morning coffee. All the music that has saved me, day after day. Marlon Brando in *The Godfather*. The sunset melting into the ocean at Cádiz. The raw, thrilling roar of a Ferrari engine. The surreal tree-boat in front of Dalí's house in Port Lligat. Eating fresh sushi at Tsukiji fish market. My trusty Lettera 22 typewriter. The iconic opening scene of *The Blues Brothers*. You, when you make me feel like I belong in your world. The Sistine Chapel's awe-inspiring ceiling in Rome. The joy of having friends living in Venice. Totò and Alberto Sordi, delighting in spaghetti. Every haunting note composed by Ennio Morricone. The breathtaking sculptures of Antonio Canova and Michelangelo. Unexpected phone calls that brighten the day. Marcello Mastroianni, no matter the role. Sitting in the peaceful chapel at Ronchamp by Le Corbusier. The cracks and groans of glaciers in Patagonia. My niece’s smile, lighting up my world. My brother and my sister. Swimming with bioluminescent plankton off the shores of Krabi.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A big, warm hug to start things off. Always honesty, respect, and a good sense of humor—because life’s too short to be serious all the time! Add to that a well-cooked Italian meal (because nothing brings people together like food), and some great company for drinks and lively conversations. Oh, and don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of stories to share, so brace yourself!

P.S.: I'd love for the host to return the favour—good vibes, good food, and a few stories of their own! 😉
