About Me

Hey :) I'm Rebecca ('Rebs' for friends since when I can remember!heh), a 28 year old Italian girl born and grown in Turbigo, a small boring town almost 50 km far from Milan - from which I've always been trying to get away travelling in the cheapest ways! I love discovering new places and cultures, learning languages and meeting new people, travelling I've always met wonderful people from all over the world.
Since when I was a child I've always loved nature, and now planting a tent in the woods or in front of the sea is one of my favourite things in life. Like, my whole life-plan revolves around living next to the beach eventually haha
I've bene living in Milan three years, studying Social Education at the university. There I've worked for a while at a rehabilitation center for drug addicts, which was quite a life-changing experience for me: I ended up writing my thesis about addiction, identity, and healing paths through art therapy and autobiographic writing. I've also worked in elementary schools, hosting workshops and helping children with learning abilities.
I'm interested in every form of non-formal education, for example through art, that is one of my greatest passions.
After graduating I spent one year in Almería, south of Spain, for a European Volunteering project with elderly and disabled people; I fell in love with Andalucía and moved to Seville to attend a Master's Degree in Gender Studies.
The pandemic hit and I decided to go back to Italy, to my town, where I worked three years as a social educator in various projects, mostly with families, children and teenagers but also in harm reduction. Right now I'm about to start a new chapter of my life moving to Genova :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that's a funny way to get to know the city you're staying in and meeting new people!
Actually it's even more than that, it feels like a big family to me..I've never had a bad experience with Couchsurfing, in fact, I've met some of the most amazing, inspiring and big-hearted people ever through this website

Interests

I love listening to music, reading, drawing, writing, painting, or just chilling out with friends. I am an introvert but I do love people! I think I'm very good at observing and listening. I also have a lot to say, but I don't easily open up to anyone..sometimes you just have to let me be and deal with my moments of asociality haha
I have many interests but at the same time I'm veeery lazy and sometimes I just need some time with my bed :) actually, I always find it so hard to wake up early in the morning. I'm kind of a night bird, and I also love partying and dancing, especially if the party involves a big sound system in some abandoned place or in the woods..
What more..I love theatre and I've done some workshops in high school and uni.
About sports, I'm tooo lazy for almost all of them, but I could swim for hours and I love yoga :)

Teach, Learn, Share

For sure I can share my cooking skills and we'll totally eat together! I love inviting people for dinner/lunch/aperitivo/whatever and as you may know, for us Italians food is sooo fucking important haha
If I have time and I'm not freaking out with study and work stuff I can definitely show you the city and also underground places and parties if you're into it! In general I know a lot of nice spots :)
I can teach you some Italian and I'm very interested in learning and pratising other languages!(especially Spanish, German and Portuguese)
I love giving massages and I've been doing it so often in the past few years, I'd like to attend a course about that at some point. So massage therapists of all kinds on CS.. If you happen to be in Milan I'd host you with joy, and any info about your work and stuff is so so appreciated!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a very quiet and independent host and I can cook damn well! ;)
