Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
Meeting people, learning new things, experiencing local culture and going on outdoors adventures while I'm here in Quebec.
ABOUT ME
I am a recent transplant from the Canadian West Coast to Trois-Rivières, Québec. I finished my degree in Geography this May (2013) at the University of British Columbia; now I work as a language assistant at a high school in Trois-Rivières helping francophone students learn English. I am here until the end of May 2014 and am looking to meet people and live new experiences!
PHILOSOPHY
I am currently in a state of transition as I adjust from a lifetime of full-time school to the real world. I haven't yet found my new purpose, but am searching and am open to what the world might throw at me.
I hope that I will one day be able to affect change in a positive way. On a daily basis, I try to live life fully, and to appreciate the present while also planning for the future. I try to see the humour and positive side of things, although I cam also be serious and focused if the situation demands it. I try to treat others as I would like to be treated, and hope others will do the same for me. Although far from perfect, one of my biggest strengths is my ability to recognize and acknowledge my mistakes, and work towards making it better next time...
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Some hosting, some surfing, some general hanging! Feel free to drop me a line if you are in town, even if I am not able to host you perhaps we can still hang out or something!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Really just started actively when I moved to Quebec in late August 2013. I've already done a mix of surfing, hosting, and meetups in Quebec, and generally they have been positive experiences!
Interessen
Active pursuits: rock climbing, hiking, running, skiing (downhill and backcountry so far) watersports.
Cultural pursuits: baking, hanging with people, arts and cultural events, dancing for fun, making music (I have a ukulele which I can play badly), novice photography, learning languages.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
I don't go through as much of these things as I would like to, but here's a few.
Movies: Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, Amelie, Across the Universe
Music: a wide range from jazz to hip hop and electronica, some favourites include Michael Buble, Franz Ferdinand, the Beatles.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I've been fortunate to see several amazing things. First thing that came to mind, was when I went inside St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice, Italy when I was 16. It was the first cathedral I'd ever been in, and it completely amazed me!
Lehren, lernen, teilen
Some things I have been informally teaching people lately include various rock climbing and cooking/baking related techniques. I'm also a swimming instructor, but probably...maybe I could (unofficially) teach you CPR...
