Hello lovely humans!
I am an artist and explorer, born in Germany and grown on the West Coast of the USA. My paintings are exhibited in galleries around the world, and I've been lucky enough to follow my art to many distant places. Take a look on Instagram @reddwalitzki

For the past 13 years, I've lived in Seattle and spent most of my time creating art in the studio here. But after a few shorter trips (to Iceland and Australia), the urge for wandering became too strong to resist. In 2018 I left my home, and became a traveler full-time, spending the summer at an artist residency in Finland, and traveling across the United States since then!

In 2019, my sister Roxanna (who is a classical musician) and I will be living and traveling across Europe. We are looking for hosts in some of the cities we are hoping to visit and explore, and would love to meet creative people there as well! Roxanna and I are laid-back and conscientious guests, we are very self-reliant, but also love company for exploring an area, visiting museums, or attending performances.

While I am new to Couchsurfing.com, as an artist I have been experienced in this form of travel before. In my studio in Seattle, I've hosted other artists when they visited town and shown them the things that make my city wonderful. As a traveler, I've stayed with friends and acquaintances around the world, and made new friends this way too! I think the best experiences come from seeing a place through the eyes of the people that love and create that place!

★ Finished the Routeburn Great Walk in New Zealand, including a helicopter transfer through an avalanche zone

★ Painted Solo Exhibitions for Galleries in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Melbourne and New York

★ Kayaked through a storm in the Baltic Sea on the island of Kokar

★ Spent 2 weeks on a Roadtrip through Utah with my sister, photographing the National Parks and watching lightning storms over the Salt Flats

Things I can teach:
♥︎ Art (watercolor or oil painting) I travel with watercolors but can show you tricks in other media if you have the supplies
♥︎ Photography - I love many forms of photography, including portraits, landscapes, experimental, and currently I'm learning long-exposure/night photography
♥︎ Crafts - I have some skills with a lot of different crafts, and am always excited to try new hand-made skills too
♥︎ Art History - I have studied a lot of Art History, and also love to learn more about it in a new area!

Things I'd like to learn:
♥︎ Night and Landscape Photography! If you're experienced, I'd love to learn more techniques from you!
♥︎ Wilderness Skills - this is an area of knowledge I'm super excited about, and would love to learn more! Both skills for surviving/thriving in the wilderness, and knowledge of local plants and animals

I would be happy to share many art related activities with hosts, and between Roxanna and I the options are endless!

✱ Watercolor Painting Session (I can teach you some techniques and tricks in watercolor, whether you're a beginner or artist!)
✱ Photography of you or your space, etc! Both Roxanna and I have worked as professional photographers and would happily help you with a photo-session of your choice
✱ House Concerts! Depending on your setup, we may be able to coordinate a house concert/performance in your space, or give you a private performance! You can invite a group of friends, we would need some notice ahead of time to properly plan this and set it up.
✱ Fairy Hair! I can give you glitter hair strands (a tied-in form of extension) which adds a little bit of magic sparkle to your hair
