About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Getting the most, out of the little time we have. Next stop, China!
ABOUT ME
We're two old high school friends travelling to China during late July/Early August.
I (Juan) am an Industrial Engineer, and my friend Hernando is a Civil engineer. We enjoy talking about movies, art, environmental affairs, politics, and sometimes just plain rubbish.
PHILOSOPHY
I usually have a very strong opinion about things. And usually my best friends are people I feel I can disagree with... That way we're able to criticize and offer insight to each other's actions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We did CS while traveling around Europe. I can't imagine what our trip would've been like if we hadn't done CS... we had some really good conversations, and had a little taste of what life is like in the cities we visited. I can't really host right now, but I'm always up for a chat, and I am very active at recruiting new people to participate in the project.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Did it in Budapest and Vienna, and was awesome (and then last year I did it in Paris, too). We had the opportunity to share a lot of our views from each other's cultures, visited some really nice places, and tasted some amaaaaazing dishes. It was a really fun experience, cannot wait to do it again.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like art house movies. My all time faves are: Godard's Breathless, K. Boe's Reconstruction, and Kieslowski's Decalogue. Which doesn't mean I can't enjoy a good (or horribly bad) Hollywood movie while eating popcorn. I like electronic music and alternative-indie rock (Daft Punk, Justice, Phoenix). I've been more of a reluctant reader... Stendhal's The Red and The Black, and Kafka's Metamorphosis are probably my favorite books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Daft Punk live in 2007 @ Lollapalooza. It was the first time I traveled by myself, in a foreign country. I ended up meeting some really cool people in the festival, and of course, seing my favorite group live.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, we're always willing to teach some spanish (it's said Bogota's spanish is the best one there is :) ).
A lot of people have a wrong idea about Colombia, so we're also eager to tell people what an amazing, friendly country it is... so maybe one of these days you'll want to visit!
