ABOUT ME
I like grapes
I try to keep an open mind about the world. I don't like the hate and judgement that's part of the world, makin up the balance between good an evil, but I try not to focus on that part. I still refuse to write on the first page of a new notebook because I'm afraid it won't be profound enough for 'first page material'
Traveling to Europe has been the best experience of my life thus far. I've seen the wonderful diversity that I thought must have been a myth. I like to dance--and sing (but that's usually confined to the shower)
Sitting still is amazing. People watching is one of my favorite things to do. But being in nature and watching it can be breath taking too
I smoke and I drink occasionally. I now like wine and drink it with meals. I have learned in Rome that the point of life is to do what makes you happy...eat good food, be with friends, drink, and smoke if you like =]

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have met so many lovely people on my travels recently. They were kind enough to give me shelter and food and love, I hope I'm able to return the favor to someone else now.

The Weepies, Bob Dylan, Sigur Ros, Mumford & Sons, The Beatles,Tom Waits, Do Make Say Think, Johnny Flynn, Animal Collective, Imogen Heap, Iron & Wine, Radiohead, Broken Social Scene, Kate Nash, MGMT, Loreena Mckennitt, Sufjan Stevens, Kings of Leon (the old stuff)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most recently I went with a group of German art enthusiasts to the thermal baths near Viterbo, Italy. Unfortunately the day was quite stormy. We didn't let this stop us though! We went running from the car through the wind and freezing rains to plunge into the warm thermal baths. It was a experience I won't forget soon--the warm water and the sulfur that softened the skin, paired with freezing rain pelting our faces!
In August 2012 I had the wonderful opportunity to stay in Civitella d'Agliano. There I worked with a family that produced some of the finest wines in Italy. Often I was working in their bed and breakfast/restaurant. However, I did have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help during the 'vendemmia' or the harvesting of the grapes. I enjoyed very much an escape from the busy life. Civitella is a place removed from time. It is good for a rest and good company.
Spending a few weeks in London was one of my favorite experiences. The large population of multiple cultures was something I've not had the opportunity to experience before. It felt like (and still does today actually) the home I had never known.
One of my favorite 'tourist' stops was at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. It was so beautiful and GREEN. I could have stayed for many more hours, just staring into space and enjoying the beauty.
On my return to the States in 2010 I had some trouble. The was some snow causing problems with all sorts of travel. I missed my plane out of Rome, after which I was lucky enough to travel to Eindhoven and stay with a friend for a few days. From there I tried to travel by train to Brussels and find a train to London, but alas, all of the trains were booked. Then I had to change my plans again and found a ferry leaving from a port near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The combination of slow regional train and buses almost didn't get me there in time. And once I did arrive, they almost didn't let me onto the boat! After a much needed night of rest, I arrived in the UK. I, once again, had problems at the border. But once I was in, I had only to wait 2 hours for a train to finally arrive. The snow buggered everything up. When eventually I did make it into London I was lucky enough for a kind French woman (also part of CS) to take me in. And the final part of my trip was not complete until I had lost my bag with all my money and passport in a bus. It was a Christmas miracle indeed that the Argentinian CS who was also staying at Sylviane's picked it up at the next stop and saved me from a sad sad Christmas.
