Legend has it that Ernest Hemingway was once asked to write a full story in six words. He responded, "For sale: baby shoes, never worn." When a friend asked me to come up with my memoirs in six words, I responded,

"Dirty hippy, naked climbing cowboy proffessional."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In general, I have been crashing on friends couches (and they on mine) for years. When I found out about CS, I thought it a wonderful idea.

So far, my actual CS experience is a bit limited. My first experience was in Idaho as I was preparing for a white water rafting trip with my long time buddy Steve. We met a lot of great people I hope to stay in contact with and had an amazing first couch surfing experience.

The next experience was also amazing. I met Mayi from Lima, Peru, and her whole family opened up their doors and lives to me. They showed kindness and hospitality to a relative stranger that will stay with me my whole life.

Also in Peru, I was able to meet someone through CS that gave me a lot of necessary information on mountaineering in the Cordillera Blanca. It was very nice to find a local that gave me accurate, honest advice instead of trying to sell something.

Now that I am finally living in a house again with a very CS friendly environment, I am very excited to return the favor as a host.

Interests

Pretty much any mountain sport. Rock climbing, backcountry snowboarding, white water rafting, inner tubing, ice climbiing, mountaineering, kayaking.

Also, new interest include brewing beer and salsa dancing!
