About Me

Hi! I am Renata, a 27 Brazilian girl that was born in a traveler family. Before I learned how to speak I've already travelled in Brazil more than a lot of brazilians. My family like to travel by car and run in rallys and raids, so I am used to the road and sleep in any place available! I've always been an artistic person, I can act, draw, sing, dance but when I was younger I was afraid I couldn't earn money with art. While I was working in a laboratory as a microbiologist I realized that I needed to do art to be happy. I gave up my career and start to study Cinema, movies. Happily I was successful and worked for 7 years in Brazil and did some jobs known in USA, Argentina, Chile, Angola, Portugal and even South Korea. My work is really nice, but very stressful, so I went to China and South Korea for vacation and completly fell in love with Asia and decided to stay more. For now I am travelling almost 1 year. I love art history, history in general and sociology, so I read about it when I am free. I am a nerd and I love Star Wars and travel with a Yoda backpack, just like Luke training wih Yoda in ep V. I like to play rpg, mainly D&D and storytelling, but I know gurps and others, I play Magic and I like anime. I also have an average size manga collection back home. I like renaissance events and medieval stories like Bernard Cornwell. I am pretty eclectic about music and I like to go clubbing often, but I prefer a bar with live music! Oh yeah, I am a feminist, I don't know how to cook, but I can eat everything since it is not spicy. I have a sleeping bag also, I can sleep anywhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My life's goal actually is living in every country of the world for at least 3 months. I am a history geek and I love people and storytelling. I like sociology also and talking with people about their thoughts and their vision about the world is my thing. I like to travel to know people that's why I decided to try here. I didn't try earlier because in my country we woman grow up listening that this kind if thing is dangerous, but I've met so many girls that did it and it was amazing and safe. I love to stay in hostels, but I mainly met travellers and foreigners. My goal is to meet locals, or at least expats. I want to understand how your society works and talk about it. I think knowing what surrounds you, you can understand yourself better.

Star wars star wars! But now I am cursing George RR Martin because he is not writing the next book that I am waiting years! I love historical dramas and movies, mainly the chinese ones. My favorite genres are fantasy, scifi, romance and drama.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked with really famous people already, like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Shakira, Rihanna, System of a Down and Guns'n'Roses. I worked in the main stage of a festival in my city, Rock in Rio and I was able to met them, and drink with some of them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I wish I could learn the basics of each language in the countries that I am going to live, but I am not good at it hehehehehe. The cultural exchange is my thing. Talking about your life, childhood, education and politics really makes my trip!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a lot about my travels, my culture and my vision of world. I can teach portuguese also and how to dance samba, hahahahaha. I can share about movie industry also, but what I an do better (as people told me so) is sharing positive energy and make a lot of philosophical talking. I am a super positive person and try always to give the better version of me and show the best side of life to people around me. Also I can offer my room in Rio de Janeiro. I dont put it in here because I cannot really receive someone properly when I am there, I work 12 to 15 hour a day, 6 days a week. I wouldn't be a goot host, but I cam offer a comfortable free bed if you need :)
