Overview
About Me
My name is Rémi, I am born in the south west of France near Spain (at Pau) which is a very beautiful region with the Pyrénées.
I have studied physics and acoustics and done a PhD about speech production acoustics. Right know I live in Dresden where I am working in research on the same topic.
I am an easy going person which can adapt very easily to many situations, people often say that I am never stressed and always very tranquil.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like very much to travel and I have already been in many places, but I don't like to be alone in a place not knowing anybody. Even if I appreciate also doing things by myself.
I like to know some people who actually live in the place and are happy to share what they love about it and allow me to know some things that I would not know otherwise.
Interests
I love to do activities in the nature from hiking in the mountain to doing snorkelling in the sea. I love plants and I know the name in French of many of them, I also know how to recognize some edible plants, but don't trust me for the mushrooms. I also know the name of many Mediterranean fishes in French and Italian sometimes.
I also like to play the guitar in my very own style, which can be better approximated by flamenco but which has nothing to do with it. Unfortunately I play the best when nobody is listening to me.
I also spend a lot of time watching YouTube videos of people speaking about science. And I like a lot videos about space exploration, I think that this is one of the most amazing and beautiful thing human kind has and will have ever made.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like very much Norah Jones and Ben Harper, but I also like balkanic music, some unknown english folk groups of the 70s, Lofofora and Stupeflip and many other things.
I like to read as well, one amazing book I have read was "The voyage of the Beagle" by Darwin. I have also read all the books of Iron throne in Italian which helped me significantly to improve my Italian since it is quite long. Another book that I loved a lot is "The 13.5 lives of captain blue bear".
I like funny movies, which sometimes doesn't seem so funny to other people (well, depending on the people), such as the movies of De Funès, and even much less known films by Les Charlots from the 70s, which I think are commonly considered as stupid films by the few who know them, but which made me cry of laughing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
At the moment, what comes to my mind is when I was freediving in the Mediterraneen sea and met with a group of Ricole (Italian name of the fish which is of the same family as tuna) which were looking at me. That was a very strange feeling to be alone in the vast blue waters with just a diving mask and fins (and swimming suit obviously) and meet with these animals who were consciously and curiously examining me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help you practice French, tell you if some plants can be eaten or if you could die eating them.
I would like to learn German and if you know something about mushrooms I am interested to see if your knowledge can translate in omelets (or any other pleasant dish containing mushrooms).
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share about the different experiences that I had during my travels, I can also speak to you about speech acoustics, but that is not very easy to explain, and I have often hard times trying to explain in simple words what it is and how it works, but if you insist...
