We are Max (30) and Remi (31) from Berlin, Germany. In January we started our journey around Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Max likes to create places where people can come together and feel at home. His bar in Berlin-Neukölln is such a place. When he is not inventing new drinks for the menu or looking for the perfect track for his next set, he likes to cook (curries and risottos are his specialities!) or try out new restaurants for his blog. He has studied Hospitality Management in Germany, Australia and Mallorca and is in love with everything Italian.

Remi has studied Translation and Political Science and spent the last years working in the non-profit sector. Since she found this work less fulfilling than she had hoped, she quit in order to find her purpose while travelling. She enjoys learning new languages, spending time with children and animals (she has been a vegetarian since the age of 8) and dreams about writing a book one day.

We both enjoy reading, bouldering, scuba diving, yoga and meditation and of course travelling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For us, the most important thing when travelling is to experience a country from within. There is no better way to really get the feel for a place than to get to know the people who live there. Travelling is all about connection, about being open, broadening your horizon and learning from each other.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Max has managed a hostel in Peru while managing not to upset the local mafia. Remi has saved sea turtles in Costa Rica.
