About Me

I'm an expat living in Japan. Currently, I'm working as a bassist/producer and teaching English part-time.

Aside from making music, I enjoy trail running, checking out art, and drinking good beer with good company.
I'm pretty easy to get along with, and like generating new ideas with people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:

I like jazz, funk, soul, electronic, abstract hip-hop, reggae/dub, and so on. Some artists I've really been digging lately are Thundercat, Robert Glasper, Himuro Yoshiteru, Knower, Teebs, Igloo Ghost, and Squarepusher (I've always dug Squarepusher tho.)

Movies: Sci-Fi, Horror, Documentaries, and Animation

Books:

Dune (all of em), A Brave New World, The Earthsea Trilogy, The Left Hand of Darkness, The Green Brain, and The Dosadi Experiment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Alaska for a while and saw the northern lights a several times. That was cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:

I can teach bass guitar lessons, audio production, and English.

Learn:

I'm always looking to improve my bass/audio production skills. I'm really interested in synths! Also, 日本語を勉強します。。。よろしくお願いします!

Share:

It would be great to meet some fellow musicians who want to collaborate/jam. Most importantly, I would like to share my friendship and mutual respect.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I teach bass lessons (see my favorite music), audio production
(I specialize in Ableton, but I have a pretty firm understanding of sequencing/midi/synthesis/sound design as well), and English.

I've been teaching English here in Japan for almost two years, and teach a wide range of students/levels.

Hosts that are interested in developing any of these skills, please feel free to let me know!

Also, I know it is probably a long shot, but if any hosts need some bass for their tracks I would be happy to help them in that regard too. I have the ability to do that on the fly or in my home studio.

Finally, if none of that interests you, I'm just happy to hang out and have a conversation over a good beer and listen to music. (Perhaps swap some music from our libraries?)
