Youngest of three children, Rena Detrixhe was born and raised in western Kansas where she spent her childhood exploring the world surrounding her family's limestone home outside of Russell. She received a BFA in expanded media from the University of Kansas in 2013 and currently lives and works in Kansas City. Detrixhe's contemplative works combine everyday materials to create intricate objects and site-specific installations. She has received numerous fine art scholarships and awards including a scholarship to attend the prestigious art school at Hongik University in Seoul, South Korea. She is currently a resident of the 2014-2015 Charlotte Street Studio Residency Program.
