About Me

Hello! I have graduated in Law in Brazil and will study the master's in Criminal Justice Policy at the London School of Economics in 2019/20. I plan on making the most of my time in the UK by meeting interesting people and getting to know amazing places. I love music (from Brazilian funk and samba to grime and Radiohead; btw, Paul is the best Beatle), discussing different topics (is Robert 3D the real Banksy? is the Legend of Aang perhaps the best TV series ever?) and having a beer/cup of coffee. I'd love to be helpful during my stay and teach/learn new things with my host.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new places and new people. For me, a luxurious accommodation may be easily exchanged for some days alongside appealing friends. When I'm travelling, I love to learn the most about where I am: be it a famous historical monument, the street my host lives in or the local bar where people meet in the weekend. So staying with at a local's house is the best outcome possible for me.

Interests

I'm a very curious person. I love talking about art and politics, learning from each other's opinions. I enjoy playing football and biking (riding a bike throughout a city is one of my favourite activities, but I also love mountain biking). I also love food, so I always try to have conversations along with meals (or beer).

Music, Movies, and Books

My complete music taste is basically on www.last.fm/user/Nan_araujo. I've been listening lately a lot of Frank Ocean, Funkadelic and Brazilian funk and rap artists. A book that impacted me greatly was Catcher in the Rye and an author was Charles Bukowski. I've been watching more series than movies, trying to catch up with the world: I recently finished Friends and am working on Game of Thrones. God, I love these.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been involved in a couple of voluntary projects in the past years. From 2015 to 2018, I worked in a group called "Beyond Bars" that provided free legal assistance to prisoners in Brazil. I got to know incredible people who were imprisoned, learning a lot from them, and helped to free dozens out of illegal imprisonments. Our work grew exponentially and, in 2018, we were invited to give legal suggestions in a public hearing held by the Brazilian Parliament to change the drug's legislation of the country - and I spoke on behalf of the group.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am more than willing to help in whatever I can. I do not mean to be a burden in any way, so I will do my best to minimize the work of my host and, if possible, to help him/her in whatever he/she needs. I can't cook really well, but I certainly can do the dishes and clean whatever is needed. In the same way that I intend to take good memories back home, I also want to leave a good remembrance to the person that kindly provided me with a home.
