About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Don't worry, be flexible
ABOUT ME
I'm a (probably lifelong) student that needs to periodically intersperse all that studying with running away to nature and adventure. I've been alternating those worlds for about 7 years now... and I hope to continue for many many more. I'm originally from the Czech Republic, grew up in Canada, and I've just returned to the Czech Republic to study medicine. I have the greatest job in the world that grants me so much freedom - I plant forests in Canada. I get to live outside in the bush with a crowd of new-age hippies, get my hands dirty and work to exhaustion, and then go travelling for the rest of the year. It's allowed me to spend great chunks of time in Asia, Africa, South and North America, and Europe. I can't even express how much I love treeplanting and its lifestyle. But now that I've started studying medicine, my lifestyle has taken an abrupt change to sitting in the library for 10 hours a day. I just finished exams yesterday I have a little break before we start up again, so I ran home and booked the cheapest flight possible. It looks like tomorrow I'll be going to Israel for three weeks! I have no idea what to expect, but I'm so so very excited. I can't wait to explore and meet some fantastic new people! With couchsurfing, I'm hoping to avoid the standard, detached hostelling experience and experience Israel from a more realistic, local aspect. I'm a generally relaxed, easy-going and all-loving kind of person and enjoy most people I meet, so I'll take whatever comes my way and appreciate anyone who opens their door to me.
PHILOSOPHY
A couple of quotes sum it up better than I can:
"Richness isn't found in wealth, as wealth can diminish. Nor is it found in beauty, for beauty fades with age. It's found in good character and kind hearts. So treat people in such a way and live amongst them in such a manner that when you die they pray for you and when you're alive they benefit from you"
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW! WHAT A RIDE."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
This is the first time I've participated in couchsurfing and I'm kicking myself for not having done so earlier! What an outstanding project. This first week that I've spent with hosts in Israel has been more enriching, exciting, and FUN than 10 times that long spent in hostels. As soon as I get a space of my own I'll be thrilled to open it up to surfers and continue the legacy of sharing!
