About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Do I Have To?

ABOUT ME

Who or What Am I?I much prefer to say I string words for a living rather than using a generic title. No doubt, I love to write but not sure if I can save my own life under extreme deprivations—sleep, shower, food, and love. *_* Anyhow, when I'm not doing product/book reviews and writing how-to articles on my blogs, I write for books—yes, my own book under a pseudonym. And yes again, they're in English not Sanskrit.
If curiosity strikes you, I drew my first writing paycheck in my freshman year in college; happened quite by accident. After penning two handful of short stories for two prestige magazines for the remaining of my college years I put my fictional pen down on hold to pursue my career in the industries where my papers categorized me in. Did the norm like everyone else for some years but that didn't quite satisfy my creative outlet so I jumped ship and filled that void professionally. Ever since it's no looking back.
I can't say I'm an expert in my profession even though I've been doing it for decades. I suppose I must be doing something right otherwise I wouldn't be paid for my work—good, mediocre, and occasionally not so good. ~_@
If book reviews and small dogs are your interest, you might want to check me out O_* at Renée Alexandrea (includes my occasional rants) and Small Dogs Paradise—Holistic Approach to Pampering Small Dogs.
As to who am I as a person, I'll let this profile speaks for itself. It doesn't encompass a complete me but for a start this is fairly sufficient and the rest you'll have to find it out in person.
So what are you waiting for? Go on and read it, takes about ten minutes of your time. O_* If there's any consolation, this is ONE and ONLY longest profile (in terms of couch and personal description) in Singapore you'll ever read.

Things That Interest MeBook: Duh! Bookstores, book clubs (offline or online), and libraries are like candy store to me.
Music: Classical (piano and cello), symphony, and smooth Jazz (sax).
Movie: Any thing that isn't perversive or violence I try to watch between reading. However, I've to say I'm a big fan of romance comedy (chick flick too), thriller/suspense/mystery (not horror), and drama...not in that order.

One Wacky Thing I've DoneOf things related to traveling, I'd have to say driving with u-hual toll behind from east coast (Knoxville) to west coast (Los Angeles) in 3.5 days; and yet able to go clubbing alone after dinner and still got my full 8 hours of beauty sleep. I was a young (22'ish) naive daredevil who enjoyed speed—didn't quite fully grasp the concept of danger. o_O
Just before I head off to Europe after my graduation, I did that devil stunt again (LA to NY) but stopped at every states instead.

Company That I Enjoy Being WithIndependent…Be resourceful. Hilarious…Have GREAT sense of Humor. Spontaneous…Be adaptable yet with final goal in mind. Real and Honest…Be genuine, deep to the core, and tactful.
The company I enjoy most is folks with a sense of graciousness, are respectful of my belongings/space/time, honest, jovial, independent, and willing to exchange meaningful conversations/banter/tasteful cuisines over Red/cold Saké/Vodka. Of course, any type of no-sugar coffee/English or Chinese tea/Ocha will still work with me but liquor just makes the conversation even better and with any luck I might just speak in tongue! 6_9

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Participation & Experiences
At this moment, I'll host "any" CS'ers regardless of any adult age, nationality, sexual orientation, race, religion—but don't try to preach to me. You'll be wasting your breath and probably be shown the way out. Nothing against organized religions just don't want to box myself in.
If you're an ET or AI or Greys, I welcome you with wide open arms and no house rules for you. There's a big enough space to park your mini-spaceship at the rooftop. Just make sure you don't burn a hole on my roof, otherwise I'd feel like living in the wilderness in an urban area. \m| @_@ |m/

Hosting ExperiencesI'd an utterly horrible first hosting experience with one ex-CSer. See reference below, right at the bottom.
Then I went on hiatus and after gaining some CS hosting experiences (a few good ones), I decided to slow down the pace greatly and do only quality hosting. In other words, surfers who are looking for purely free accommodations right down in lacking of basic essentials (toilettes e.g. toothbrush, please don't use mine or Kiki's), reciprocity, and mutual respect, please save us both trouble and time, don't request for my couch.
My apartment is my home and office. It's NOT B&B (bed & breakfast) or hotel or motel or rabu hoteru ラブホテル or hostel or office hub. I believe you've to pay for using their accommodations and whatever perks you fancy having!
If you're looking for a free bed for a night or intending to glue your butt on my couch in front of rectangular screens and sleep throughout the day, please look elsewhere or go to GlobalFreeloaders.
Attention: Freeloaders! The word freeloader is pretty self-explanatory, in case you don't know what it means, it's: A person who takes advantage of the charity, generosity, or hospitality of others…more about what freeloaders are like is here. If you fit the bill, don't bother to read any further as the rest would seem rubbish to you!
There's a gazillion of charity organizations of any imaginable cause, a couple which I've been a long-term volunteer, and CS or any hospitality network isn't one of them. I believe all human beings are equal when we're striped down to the core; no one should take advantage of anyone regardless the size of one's wallet.
Just so you know, I joined CS with two intentions: intercultural exchange and expanding my friendship network. My space and time are the most valuable intangible assets to me. So you either respect them or move on to find suitable hosts who can cater to your needs and fancy.
Although I'm able to discern freeloaders quite easily from a myriad of good to great guests, nevertheless, I still find myself in this predicament occasionally. Argh, c'est la vie when you joined any hospitality network.
I'll be upfront with you, my tolerance level with freeloaders and ill-mannered guests is very low. And should I be so unfortunate to host you, I'll not hesitate to give you a negative or neutral reference if I find your stay unpleasant to various degrees. You are being warned! Period! So request and surf at your own risk!
In Conclusion:Despite some unpleasant experiences I had, I still like hosting because I firmly believe there are far more great guests out there for our paths to cross. If you're an awesome guest with groovy personality, I'd love to meet you. And I'll do my utmost best to be all-round groovy host…C",)
