ABOUT ME

I have run away from my life for a little while, and plan to spend 12 months or so travelling through Europe and teaching in London. I love anything fun really! Bike rides, picnics, trips to the beach, kittens and puppies are some of the things that make me happy! UPDATE: I have now been travelling (and working a little) for about 9 months, and I can confirm my favourite things are in fact boats, hammocks, skiing, snow, mountains, beaches, festivals, autumn, summer, spring, taking photos, travelling alone (you make more friends that way), and kittens and puppies. So far, my favourite destination has been Mexico, maybe because it is where I spread my wings and stepped out on my own, and made some great new friends.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that everything happens for a reason, so try to find meaning when things take an unexpected turn. I am also a very fair and loyal person. Early in April my flights to Sardinia were cancelled after I was already on the plane, but rather than being annoyed, I just wondered what amazing thing was about to happen instead... and, something super awesome did happen! I went to snowbombing, and got my first ever press pass, and went skiing on a glacier! See - everything happens for a reason.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For this year, I am interested in surfing, but when I finally make it home, I have a pretty awesome couch to offer to fellow couch surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

At the start of this trip, I couch surfed with a few girlfriends in Majorca. Our hosts were kind, generous and friendly people who were hosting 6 other surfers during our stay. They began their couch surfing experience as travelers, and are now giving back to the cs community. I really admire that, and hope to follow in their footsteps.

Music, Movies, and Books

Musically, I love an eclectic mix of awesome stuff. I love funk, house, jazz and rock and roll, especially live. You will also find me on the dancefloor on occasion listening to some dirty breaks, but not for too long! I love reading biographies, especially rock and roll ones, because they tend to have amazing fun lives. Movies - I tend to be a bad selector of movies at the movie shop, so don't leave me in charge! I love to watch them though, on rainy or hungover days... I do enjoy Mad Men, Breaking Bad and a few bad reality shows that I won't mention, but they are just for mindless entertainment. To be honest, since travelling, I haven't really been watching anything much!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Booked a one way ticket to the other side of the world!

I've jumped out of a plae with a man strapped to my back, that was cool. I've also bungee jumped Thailand, twice. You know, because they're so safe there.

Recently spent a night sleeping on a beach in Mallorca, fell asleep by the campfire under the stars listening to acoustic guitar. One of my favourite nights ever. Woke up in paradise, literally.

Just got back from a last minute trip to a festival where I knew no one and came back with lots of friends... oh, and I skiied on a glacier over the clouds in Austria.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm... I have been told by a few recently that my story inspires them! I guess I am out to teach people that everyone is different, and it doesn't matter how old or what stage of life you are at, it is never too late to follow your dreams! Also, I might be able to offer some photography advice - nothing technical, just on how to train your eye to capture moments.
