About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Nokkloom.
ABOUT ME
I lived in Spain for 18 years and got tired of it; ended up in Estonia and have been around for more than six years already. And no, I don't miss the weather too much :)
I spend way too much time working with data about music while I should probably be doing something else. Although at least now I also get paid for it. And I somehow managed to graduate anyway. Magic! Now working on getting a master degree on digital libraries, because libraries + the internet = yes!.
Nokkloom and kilpkonn are my favourite Estonian words.
I love sarcasm and punning with a passion. I can get carried away and keep speaking too much at times - feel free to politely tell me to STFU if that happens.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to make things better around me, which is a permanent battle with my horrible laziness. I'm somewhat ashamed to report my laziness wins more often than not, but I keep trying.
I happily live in what my dear grandma considers a "disappointing lack of ambition", meaning that I'd rather not work in something I don't like for money I don't need.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host reasonably often, and have surfed occasionally both in Estonia and abroad.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted a fair bit in Tartu, both through CS and Warmshowers.
Some couchsurfers saved me from sleeping in the cold street when I ended up without a hostel in Holland! Also, I got a lot of help from the amazing CS community in Tartu :)
Interests
Most kinds of music, especially live. Football, particularly Estonian football. Parties, but less so than the average Spaniard. Books. Languages. Seeing the world. Cuteliness. Politics. Computers. Random bits of knowledge.

Music, Movies, and Books
You can find me listening to anything from Czech industrial hip hop to trumpet concertos. And probably entering all data I can find about it into MusicBrainz while I'm at it.
I'm ashamed to admit that I'm barely reading any books recently, with my reading time mostly going into blogs and newspapers. I maintain a healthy love of science fiction (Herbert, Bester, Heinlein, Stephenson) and I also enjoyed reading English classics for my degree way more than I expected when I started.
I'm not really a film/TV person. I still love The Wire and Firefly, though.
I love Paradox strategy games as deeply as I suck at them. That's to say, lots. My username comes from Baldur's Gate so that might suggest other games I like.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Getting lost in Lisbon, Mar 2008
Walking all around Amsterdam in a vinyl hunt, Nov 2008
Taking random trams in Prague during my time there, just to see where I ended up, 2009
Living 5 minutes from the huge and cheap vegetables market in Den Haag, 2009-10
Things like that, it's easy to make me happy :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Don't really know what people could learn from me... but my experience tells me you can learn something from almost everyone, so just try!
