About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To seek out new life and new civilizations. Culture shocks!

ABOUT ME

Here's an Open Source nonprofit alternative to CS you might want to check out. This is my profile:
http://www.bewelcome.org/members/reso

I'm a vegan, animal rights activist, an environmentalist, an atheist and straight edge (ie. I don't drink, smoke or do other types of drugs), but I don't look down upon those that do.
My veganism, however, is predominantly due to ethics. Mostly abolitionist animal rights to be specific.

I'm quite passionate about ethics and justice (not law), and I tend to put myself down for not doing enough to further these goals, paralysis analysis and so on.

I am, arguably, a bit shy, and somewhat insecure. I am not a good storyteller, but I am a good listener. I am not very good at cooking but I'll gladly help out with the simple things, and give a hand with the dishes.

I'm trying to figure out the purpose of traveling so I can optimize the quantity of whatever it is. I'm currently thinking that a potential reason could be trying to have as diverse experiences as possible, witnessing and living with people who's way of life and philosophies are radically different from your own, putting your own life, your values, your prioritization, your culture into a larger perspective, perhaps ultimately resulting in living your life in a richer way, with more respect and love for diversity. Given that my goal would be to have the greatest culture shocks possible. How to do this more concretely is the question. What should I spent my time on while abroad? What should I not spent my time on, which is suboptimal or something I might as well do at home? Maybe I should write some blog posts on this topic at some point? :)

PHILOSOPHY

Equality, make love not kids, go vegan.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If you're a vegan visiting Copenhagen I might be up for hanging out or going around the city with you. There's probably plenty of new experiences available for me in the city as well, and I'm sure I don't know all of the tourist places either, as I usually don't care, but in a social situation it might be fun. I know very little of the history of the city or whatever, but I'm willing to tag along, and at least I speak the native language and I should be able to find my way around pretty well. :)

I'd also like to travel more! Cities, biking, hiking with fellow vegans. I was just sitting and looking at some random (boy-/girl-)scout pictures* and felt really nostalgic about having outdoors adventures, but I'd also like to visit cities, get to know different cultures and so on. Maybe even travel the seas!
If that sounds like something you could've written yourself, maybe we can travel together?

Where I live already hosts a fair amount of like-minded guests via different networks, so I'm probably not available in that way since we already have a constant flux of people visiting us. If I visit you, though, you can probably visit me too, though it's not just up to me to decide. But I might be up for hanging out or exploring Copenhagen or the surrounding area together, and be a tourist in my own home town! I'm sure there's many things I've yet to see.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far, but I have had lots of guests where I live via other networks.

Interests

I like yoga, board games and computers and I used to spend a lot of time on movies and music as well. Other than that I'm basically passionate about learning about everything, with a few exceptions such as fashion, law and sports.

I'm not into parties (the get drunk, loud low quality music and dancing part), so I try to find other ways of socialising and have fairly recently decided to try out the domain of board games partially for this beautiful purpose.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

"Uspenskin Cathedral" in Helsinki. It looks quite spectacular, and is much more beautiful than the "Helsinki Catheral".

When I was standing under galata bridge in Istanbul, looking at the boats going back and forth, and I suddenly saw a dolphin or shark, which came as a surprise (and was much more awesome because of it) since I was ignorant of the existence of such large sea animals there.

Teach, Learn, Share

Maybe I could help with computers or something? I know a little about hardware as well as OSX (Mac), Windows and Linux. I also have some rudimentary practical skills. I'm bad at cooking, though, but I'll gladly help with the dishes.

Countries I’ve Visited
