About Me

I like meeting new people. To exchange ideas and talk things out - whether social. political, scientific or spiritual - or just to have a laugh. I am interested in languages and dedicate some time every day to language study. I also like to draw, practice calligraphy and I can play (to some extent) the keyboard, guitar, and ukulele.

I was brought up in northern England, where I also studied for my BA in Literature and Linguistics. I have lived in Spain, Germany and France teaching English face to face and over webcam.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My girlfriend first gave me the CS bug and since then I've rarely met a couchsurfer I didn't like.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite writers would be Shakespeare, Maugham, Hesse, Hemingway, Nabokov, Doctorow, and McCarthy.

My favourite director is Mike Leigh. I also like Quentin Tarantino, Quentin Dupieux and Bobcat Goldthwait.

Mostly, I listen to 60s/70s singer-songwriters (Young, Morrison, Nyro, Bacharach), soul (Motown, Philly Soul ,Gaye, Isleys) , indie, jazz, and a bit of classical (Debussy, Fauré, Villa Lobos).

Re modern music, I can recommend The High Llamas, St. Vincent, The Super Furry animals, Yo Lo Tengo, Jessica Pratt and Fitness Forever.
