ABOUT ME

I'm from the US but I've spent the past 2 years living and teaching english in Spain. Last year I was worked in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, in the rainy Northwest Corner of Spain. This year I decided that I couldn't take the ceaseless rain any more so I moved to sunny Jerez de la Frontera, Andalucia. I'm having the time of my life living in Spain, absorbing the culture, language, food and drink, meeting people, and exploring and traveling whenever I get a chance. I'm not really sure where this will take me as far as life plans but I plan on doing so for at least 1 or 2 more years. But for now I'm just enjoying the moment and appreciating it for as long as I'm able to or until something else grabs my interest more.

I've got a really wide range of interests from everything having to do with quality beer(homebrewing it, learning the history and science behing it, as well as of course drinking it! One of my favorite things to do while traveling is visit small local breweries) - traveling - sports - archaeology - growing fruits and vegetables - backpacking - art - history - exploring. I've really gotten into photography the past few years. It has filled the void left from no longer taking art classes like I did while in school. Although I like to think that I've got a good eye for the artistic side of it, I still have a long way to go to learn about how to use my camera better and optimize it's functions.

I can't really say I've got a favorite musician or musical genre because I really do have an eclectic range of musical interests. Although I'm especially keen on early to mid 90's NYC hip-hop. I've been fortunate enough to see some pretty unforgettable concerts over the years. If you share good music with me it'll be really hard for us to not get along!

I really love watching movies although I wouldn't say I'm a huge movie buff by any means! I truly enjoy reading whenever I find a good book, but unfortunately I don't devote the amount of time towards reading that I'd like to. Oh well, there are only so many hours in a day.

I've lived some truly incredible experiences but here are few of the most memorable.

Studying abroad in Sevilla, Spain for 4 months during the spring of 2012. This was the most fun and life-changing 4 months of my life. It was truly an eye-opening experience and set into effect a chain of events that has led me to where I am today. This opened my eyes to the idea that its actually possible to live in europe for an extended amount of time. And now I've come back to Spain and have been living here for over a year.

Going to Morocco on my own, renting a car and driver/translator, driving through the dangerously winding roads over the Atlas mountains to Merzouga, riding a camel into the Sahara desert, then waking up at 6:00 in the morning to climb a 500m dune just in time to see the sun rise out across the endless sands from the crest of the dune.

During the summer of 2014 hiking the Camino de Santiago with my brother Nick from Saint-Jean-Pied-du-Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Eating a ton of bread, cheese, and chorizo, drinking litres of wine and beer, seeing some really stunning parts of Northern Spain, and getting to become much closer to my brother along the way.

Getting drunk along with everyone else in a 300 person village in an isolated part of Galicia during the village's annual wine festival during carnaval.

Traveling solo around Europe by train for 30 days during the summer of 2012. I saw a shit-ton of Europe (10 countries), met a ton of people, ate some amazing food, drank a lot of beer, took a lot of pictures, visited some incredible places, and learned a lot about myself and about traveling.

Seeing Plaza de Espana in Sevilla for the first time! Wow that place is incredible! When I was there the first time it was around 6 so the sun was hitting it just perfectly so that it looked like the building was glowing! I still can't get over how cool of a sight that was, I'll never forget it.

Watching the sunset from a rooftop on the hillside in Granada, Spain. Easily one of the coolest 20 or 30 minutes of my life. The city of Granada was spread out beneath us as far as the eye could see with the Cathedral being the crown jewel of it all. The sky was glowing pink, yellow, red, and orange and then as the sun got lower and lower it became a bright ball of pink and orange on the horizon. It was the coolest thing being able to actually watch it in real time as it slowly disappeared inch by inch until it finally gave way to darkness.

The view from the top of the rim after the long and grueling climb up and out of Coyote Gulch in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in Utah, United States. Getting to the top of that and being able to see for miles and miles in all directions and not having any of the view obstructed by anything human made. The landscape up there was like something off of mars. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before and even knew existed on earth!

The truly ridiculous level of partying in Coimbra, Portugal during the Quiema das Fitas celebration in May of 2014.

Celebrating Real Madrid's champions league title in Plaza Cibeles until 7 in the morning when the players arrived after they won La Decima against atletico de madrid.
