Overview
About Me
I'm currently studying BSc IT at the North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa. I love to meet new people and have an insatiable desire for all things adventurous. I constantly catch myself taking up new hobbies and seeking new experiences to more effectively live my life to the fullest.
I'm not so much into drinking and partying, but am open to new experiences if it means spending some quality time with friends. Anything that doesn't go against my personal values is something I'm up for.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Although I have been privileged to be able to travel a bit, I have spent my whole life living in a single city in South Africa, which has evoked a hunger for travel and new experiences in me. I plan to travel a bit more in the future and would love to meet new people. The idea of free accommodation is also awesome, and I am willing to let people into my space as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a diverse taste in music, but my favourite genre is jazz. When no one else is listening, I like to put on some Charlie Parker or Miles Davis, or even an old Frank Sinatra hit.
Even so, my musical curiosity has led me to discover great musicians like Bombay Bicycle Club, Mumford and Sons, John Mayer, Nothing but Thieves and more.
I play a few instruments myself, including piano, clarinet, guitar. I also have a decent singing voice. If you are interested in music, I am sure we will get along.
I don't enjoy watching films that much, but am a fan of the Lord of the Rings series and Star Wars.
My favourite author is C.S. Lewis. I especially enjoy his apologetics books and the Narnia series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On a visit to Australia, I got the chance to scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef. The immense coral structures and colourful fish and aquatic animals were definitely something amazing to experience. It feels like another world under the water. On our way back, we saw a sea turtle casually swimming somewhere as we looked through the clear blue water.
I really felt inspired to try to take my scuba knowledge to the next level. If all works out, I would like to complete my scuba certification one day and become an instructor. I currently have a CMAS two-star licence, which is equivalent to an advanced open water licence.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If I visit anyone outside South Africa, I would love to bring some of our famous Rooibos tea. It's definitely worth a taste!
I would also love to play some music together. I feel this is really a cornerstone of discovering a new culture.
