ABOUT ME
We are both students from Melbourne, Australia. We both study music and history. Reuben works with songmen in western Arnhem Land, Australia. He loves learning new languages (currently Kunwinjku). Rachel is interested in French history and opera. Rachel is studying in Europe at the moment and Reuben is in Sydney. We are always interested in hosting people and learning about their cultures and languages. Reuben spricht auch Deutsch gerne, falls du lust hast, deutsch zu quatschen!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We use CS to meet up with people who are completely unlike us and learn more about the way they live their lives. We've both traveled a lot in Australia so we can offer visitors some insight into how to navigate the country!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We first used couchsurfing in Vietnam in 2005 and loved it. We met up with a number of Vietnamese and travelers in Vietnam. Since then we've hosted people in Melbourne and had some lovely guests. We also were blown away by friendly Turks in Istanbul who love to show people around their fine city!
Interests
History of Australia, Australian music and Australian languages (there are more than 200 Indigenous languages in Australia!); touring on the bicycle long distances; eating tasty food; cooking tasty food; hiking, running.

Music, Movies, and Books
If you travel with us in the car you're likely to hear a lot of country music, folk music, Springsteen (definitely helps me drive better) and 80s Australian rock, as well as the music that we are currently studying.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sitting down to eat oscypek and polski ogórki on top of the tatras near Zakopane, Poland.
Teach, Learn, Share
At the moment we want to learn more about the living cultures of this world - some of which are over 50 000 years old, and more about Australia's recent history. It has been said that traveling abroad and learning about the different ways in which people live always helps to put your own life in perspective. I reckon that's true.
