Overview
About Me
I am Sonja, 27 years old, currently living in Trier, Germany, close to the border to Luxemburg and France, originally from close to Frankfurt. I am an outgoing, open-minded person that loves sharing all kinds of stories from life and especially from travels, a passion that has been fascinating me ever since I undertook my first big journey when I was 19. Unfortunately I can't offer a couch as I only have a small room in a flatshare where I live. But I'm always happy to meet for a coffee and show you the beautiful sights and spots of Germany's oldest city! ;-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a wonderful opportunity to let intercultural exchange blossom. I personally have only had positive and enriching experiences here staying at people's places in Germany and other European countries. Once I find the space for a couch, I want to offer the same to others! For now, let's meet for a coffee and a stroll through the city and its beautiful area! :-)
Interests
YOGA
After I was active in ballet, rhythmic sportsgymnastics and Capoeira, I have been practicing yoga for about 4 years now in Germany. This year I travelled to India and stayed at an ashram for 4 weeks before I became a certified Ashtanga yoga teacher in its capital Mysore. Apart from that, I practice Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and also became certified in the practice of Reiki.
FOOD
I am currently re-discovering my passion of cooking. I've started loving healthy and conscious veg nutrition, always happy to try out new recipes! If you've got some advice or ideas, let me know ;-)
COMMUNICATION DESIGN
After graduating with a Bachelor degree at my university in Mainz, Germany, I started my Master course in Communication Design at Hochschule Trier. Currently, I am working on my M.A. thesis, integrating graphics, editorial design, photography and film.
LANGUAGES
One of my big passions are the diversity of languages. Apart from my parents' Saxon-Transsylvanian dialect, I speak English, Spanish, French, and a slight little bit of Portuguese. My next challenge is Hindi next to Sanskrit, which I have started to study during my stay and travels through India.
SLOW(!)TRAVELLING
Whether music festivals, trekking, city trips or volunteering abroad – ever since I started my first long trip to Portugal and Spain when I was 19 years old, my passion for travelling and exploring the cultures of this planet has'nt been stopping.
