ABOUT ME

Hey all! My name is Sarah.
The search for discovery, growth and meaning finds me here.
To me, life as a journey- where I'm an active participant and observer, exchanging perspectives with the world.
I love transcribing the stories of life onto paper.

I've lived in Canada for most of my life between British Columbia and Ontario. I'm pretty new to CouchSurfing and travel, but it seemed about time to see new things and meet new people.

I'm definitely a curious cat, and love learning new things.
I enjoy the nuances in life, and pausing to smell the roses.
Hopefully through this website I can meet some good people, see new things, and share some good stories.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to volunteer and help out wherever I can. I am timely and cleanup after myself when a visitor.

Although I can't host anyone at the moment, I'd be more than happy to show someone around the GTA/Durham Region. I know plenty of neat things to do.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was delighted to kick-off my surfing experience in Montreal of May/13. It was so great that I look forward to being more involved in this community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Every genre has something I enjoy deeply. But some favourties are: Bob Dylan, Lauryn Hill, Townes Van Zandt, The Band, Tim Buckley, Funkadelic, The Staple Singers, Patti Smith, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Alabama Shakes.

Books: Anything with a poignant message, or no message at all :-). Bound for Glory and The Prophet sit up for display on my book-shelf.

Movies: I've recently enjoyed watching older films like Asphalt Jungle and Sunset Boulevard.
Taxi Driver and American Beauty have always been favourites. The Never Ending Story is filled with the kind of wonder I seek in my life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I try to visit Vipassana (a 10 day meditation course) every year, which is an incredibly self-illuminating and fulfilling experience for me.

In general, my favourite things seem to boil down to being around good people.
Backpacking alone taught me strength and independence.

Hanging out with starfish in DR was pretty cool too!
