About Me

I'm laid back and enjoy a laugh. i love corny things like watching sunsets whilst sipping wine, or champagne in a bubble bath. i love my family, i love guinea-pigs (and long for a tiny backyard so i can have them again,) but am definately NOT a cat person.
my favourite thing is to become so absorbed in a good book that you forget what you're meant to be doing. i want to spend my life reading whilst getting paid for it. but money is of no importance to me- i have very simple tastes and just need enough to get by on!
i want to see as much of the world as i can, but i especially long to see the african continent.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i have not yet couch-surfed, but have been unexpectedly thrilled by the friendliness of group of complete strangers... i was in hong kong in march and looked like shit. i'd been out to an awesome bar the night before (mint- it had fire breathers and shark tanks and great dj's), had gotten completely plastered and was coping on about 2 hours sleep. i was slumped in the park, wearing enormous sunnies, scowling at the birds and projectile vomiting into a nearby bush. yes, it was pure class.
in spite of my rabid appearence, a group of 3 people approached with beaming smiles. they were attired in business suits and impeccably groomed. (mormons? i thought fearfully.)
"hello! and welcome to our city!" one of them sung out. i was taken aback. in sydney, you avoid eye contact at all times unless you want to get bashed. they spoke to me for a long time (about their city, their jobs, their lives) and made me feel all gooey inside. turned out they were taking a 5 week course on 'how to love your fellow man and trust strangers.' i found this a completely novel- yet wonderful idea.
i want to BE this sort of person and meet others like this!

Interests

Reading, hiking, skiing, cooking, long afternoons spent cooking and drinking wine with close friends, days in the sun burning to a crisp on the beach, dancing so hard that blisters form, navigating new cities with a toss of a coin (except when you get four lefts in a row), long walks with barely any purpose, making a cup of coffee and the paper last half a day, watching dangerous surf crash against the rocks, long distance running to clear the head, rock-climbing (i'm working on those biceps- yeah right), scuba-diving and snorkelling, testing the strength of my digestive tract with unhygenically prepared street food

Teach, Learn, Share

when you've wandered away and left something on the stove, fret not! i don't care if that grotty black stuff has actually joined molecules with the stainless steel pot- oven cleaner will clean ANYTHING. not just the oven.
