About Me

Hello friends!
My name is Rhea, and I absolutely love living in Middletown CT.
I work and study at Wesleyan University and am involved in a number of local Middletown nonprofits and organizing groups.
When I'm not building community here in Middletown, I'm out adventuring. I love traveling, trying new things, and making new friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been an unofficial couchsurfer since I was 17. I've always loved traveling on my own, making new friends in new towns, and seeing the world through different eyes.
I've been focusing on my education for the past few years, but have recently gotten back into solo-travel. I have a lot of friends and family spread throughout the world, but I am interested in meeting new people and creating new connections.

Interests

I really like getting to know people and sharing stories with them.
I want to know what you're interested in!

In my (little) free time, I like to hop in my car and find a new place on the map and explore!

My academic interests include Sociology, nonprofits, social justice, history and religion. So I spend a lot of time educating myself.

Music, Movies, and Books

All of my favorite music, movies and books really depend on the mood that I am in. But if I had to pick one of each-

Music: According to Spotify, my top artist is SOPHIE. I really like high-energy music that I can dance to.
Movie: I always love a good roadtrip movie. Wristcutters: A Love Story is one of my favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the age of 18 as a part of a leadership building program, I participated in a life-changing activity.
My friend and I were dropped off in a random small town in Northern California with no food, no money, and no credit cards. Our task was to not only survive for three nights, but to thrive and find ways to give back to the community.
What seemed like a daunting task was actually incredibly fun and easy. We made so many friends, stayed in wonderful peoples homes, and gave back to a local elderly home. I made deep connections, had real conversations, and learned so much about myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot of random knowledge that I've picked up over the years
Like, I can teach you how to read/write in Nordic Runes.

I have also worked with 7 nonprofits, and have a knack for organization and detail. So if you need any help with anything of that sort, I've got you covered.

As far as learning: I like to think that I am very open-minded. I really want to learn about you are passionate about, whatever that may be!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My mom is Filipino and she taught me from a young age, that you cannot go to someone's house without giving them a gift of some sort.
So whether that is food/drink/a bouquet of flowers, I love to give back to my hosts in some way or another.
Of course, I always do the dishes, and will help out around the house with whatever you need.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Philippines, South Korea
