About Me

I'm an Australian travelling around Canada for 6 months after just completing a science degree, majoring in medical biotechnology. I enjoy hiking, climbing, swimming and anything to do with the outdoors. I like to draw, paint and make crafty things. I love getting to know new people and hearing about different adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the idea of experiencing the places I travel from a local point of view, whether that be just getting suggestions of usually non-tourist places or getting to know people that live there. Staying with couchsurfers seems like a great opportunity to learn about the way of life of people from a place I travel as well as connect and meet couchsurfers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I enjoy a variety of music genres but the main people I'm listening to currently are Alt-J, Sticky Fingers, Cosmo Jarvis, John Butler, Tash Sultana, Methyl Ethel and Watsky.

Movies: I wouldn't say I have a favorite movie but I really like Into the Wild. I decided to read the book after watching the movie and it has a lot of interesting extra details.

Books: My favorite book when I was younger was called Lost Property. I'm currently reading Sapiens, a book about our species past and then want to read Homo Deus, a book about where we're going as a species in the future!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled around Europe in 2017 for six weeks and attended the World Scout Moot in Iceland at the end of the trip. This was an awesome experience where I had the chance to travel with friends, travel alone for a segment of the trip and do some cool outdoor activities (like outdoor climbing in Iceland and glacier hiking). I met heaps of like minded people and really got hooked on travelling.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have had a random collection of hobbies over the years, some of which are wood burning art, water colour painting, sketching, card making, chocolate flower making, quilt making and sewing clothes plus my outdoor pursuits. Since I'm almost finished my science degree I can teach you random science facts :P

I'm interested in exchanging cultures, learning other languages and hearing different life experiences. I'd love to learn how to cook some new meals and learning what other peoples 'go to' meals are and have a good chat. When I traveled to Nepal I tried to remember as many recipes as possible which I now have started cooking regularly at home.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd like to think I'm good with improvise cooking when there is very little ingredients or I'm trying to be as cheap as possible. This usually means not following recipes and winging it :P

I can teach and entertain you with some Aussie banter.
