About Me

Hello couch surfing community! I am currently touring the USA, Mexico and Central America by bicycle with my partner Chris. So far, we have travelled from Denver to San Francisco, and are heading down the California coast.

I recently left my lovely home in Newcastle upon Tyne, where previously I enjoyed working at one of the Universities as a Library coordinator, and hosted couchsurfers occasionally in the spare room. I met one of my best friends in Newcastle via an interesting couch surfing connection..! So it's great to return to it on this trip.

When we are not riding our bikes (which we do for about 6 hours a day at the moment!) or pitching our tent wherever we can, Chris and I love making and eating delicious food, meeting like minded people, reading loads of books, drinking beers, hiking up mountains, and swimming in any viable body of water. We love animals and we really love cats.

We are usually self sufficient in terms of accommodation and taking care of our meals etc., but sometimes we crave a new connection and a comfortable nights sleep, maybe even a shower!

*please read* I have actually both surfed and hosted before, but was evidently not good at chasing references! I've hosted several couchsurfers at my place in Newcastle, most recently 2 years ago. I've also met up with and guided people who already had a place to stay. I've been hosted maybe once or twice, many years ago! Chris and I both host and are hosted via warmshowers.org :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love hosting travellers or anyone new to the city when I'm able to offer a spare room. I like a co-living situation, as it maintains a sense of community and sharing for me. It's an awesome way to keep learning for life, meet interesting people and share stories and cultural experiences. Also I love telling everyone how great Newcastle is! While on the road, sometimes I enjoy some company or would appreciate travel advice/ tips from a local. Couchsurfing is a great way to get this.
