About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Finish the things I started. Be good to myself and others.
ABOUT ME
And old friend calls me WYSIWYG, which stands for "what you see is what you get" because ... well, that sums it up.
I'm an independent journalist and filmmaker currently in production on "Coal Ash Chronicles," a behemoth of a transmedia project that includes a film and book. So, busy busy ... but aren't we all?
Beyond that I'm smart, thoughtful, straight forward, kind, funny and I make good biscuits. I'll make some for you, if you like. :)
PHILOSOPHY
Do one thing. Do it well. Do it until it's done. Do something else. Repeat.
Be sweet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In 2012, I spent almost five months on the road, traveling from Charlotte, N.C., to Manley Hot Springs, A.K. I camped some, stayed with friends and family some, and Couchsurfed some. It was great!
In 2013, I beat last 2012's record for months traveled by three as I zigzagged around the country working on my film.
In April 2014 I hit the road for our (booming voice) Last Epic Filming Trip! Huzzah! That year I spent another five months on the road. Filming wrapped in July.
Now I'm back in Charlotte working on the film in post production, working on a book, and doing some consulting work.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've yet to have a negative experience with anyone from this website and been thankful for and to, everyone I've met.
This type of humanity is making the journalism project I'm working on affordable, and therefore possible.
Also, I'm going to thank CouchSurfing.org in my film for helping to make it possible. Seriously.
Interests
I'm a writer, photographer, and videographer. I work too much, but it's for the love of my community and country. I believe journalism is meant to provide information to citizens so that they and their representatives can make good decisions.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh, so many ... too many ... lots! I have quite eclectic tastes, though I didn't have much in the way of television exposure as a kid so I miss a lot of retro-pop culture references. Okay ... I miss pretty much all pop-culture references.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Horseback riding in the jungle in Belize will remain one of my happiest moments, as will snorkeling at Mexico Rocks and seeing a rainbow over the Caribbean when I looked up. Realizing the outhouse for the cabin I was staying in in Manley Hot Springs Alaska only had three walls (and a great view!) will remain one of my favorite stories. The stars in Montana can't be beat. The people of Nebraska are some of the best in the world, and the wide open spaces out there remind you of how small we all really are.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy learning about people's work and passions, especially while I make them dinner. I'm happy to share my biscuit recipe with anyone who wants it. :) Free samples first, of course. :)
