For many years, my default "about me" read like this: I'm living a student's life (childless friends, domestic byob parties and plenty of time), although I never lived a student's life (lectures, exam periods and semester breaks).

As time has passed, this needs adjustment. My life has a different beat now - living with my partner, having (and taking) more job opportunities, partying less, hosting less. Still traveling, still hitchhiking, still couchsurfing. But learning that a life spent entirely on the road is only half the fun. Seeking change and challenge in my day to day life now, building things and thinking long term rather than just focusing on the next trip.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's these Sunday mornings, climbing inner city rooftops with a couple of old friends, sipping at our night's last beer, watching the city wake up around us, laughing at and playing with all the little curious things we find like we used to do as kids.

Teach, Learn, Share

When we told our guide that we didn't want to go to all the tourist places he took us instead to the places where they take tourists who say that they don't want to go to tourist places. These places are, of course, full of tourists. Which is not to say that we weren't tourists every bit as much as the others, but it does highlight the irony that everything you go to see is changed by the very action of going to see it, which is the sort of problem which physicists have been wrestling with for the most of this century.
