About Me

I am a transplant from the middle of Alabama. I lived in Mississippi for a couple of years which was the furthest I had ever lived away from my family. Now I live in Phoenix, after a year in Tucson., which may as well be the other side of the world from my family and friends back in Alabama. I grew up in the country farming and never imagined living right in the middle of one of the largest, busiest cities. My boyfriend was a military brat growing up and went into the military himself so he has lived all over and has traveled the world. My boyfriend and I love to travel and do so as much as possible. We also love to hike, try new (at least to us) places to eat, go to festivals, events. We both like to read, love music, go to air shows, watch and go to sporting events (especially football - he likes pro, I like college - Roll Tide!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always opened my home to family and friends and my son's friends. As much as we love to travel, it has not always been possible financially. I wish this community had existed years ago. So as much as love the outdoors and nature I am thankful that the technology exists to make this community available for present and future travelers who would not be able to see the world otherwise. My son and his girlfriend are traveling Europe right now and couchsurfing is a large part of making that possible. He introduced me to this so I am very new to it. But we like to meet new people and hear their tales of adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

We both love to read but I can't choose just one book. I can say what I don't like is cheesy dime store romance novels, it's hard to read due to the headaches I get from all my eye rolls. Nothing against anyone who reads them, my grandmother, who I was very close to and loved dearly, loved to read them. I read just about anything else I can get my hands on though especially period pieces, historical, epics, classics, biographical, series. He likes historical, war, etc. I had around a thousand books that I gave away when I moved due to the cost of moving and space. It was heartbreaking but I gave them to other book lovers.

We like to go the movies but most of them I can wait till they are released. Unless it's one you just have to see on the big screen. You know the ones. We like all genres. I used to own hundreds of movies but gave them away over the years. I had every Disney movie but gave them all to my nephews.

T.V. - We are huge Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Vikings fans. There are a few others that we like too. Comedies, dramas, paranormal, etc. But I DVR everything so we can watch when we are home and at our leisure, plus because I despise having to watch 7 minutes of commercials for every 5 minutes of showtime. Ain't nobody got time for that! Oh and I go thru spells where I am obsessed with reality shows but my interest will fluctuate so I may have 2 or more seasons of one show DVR'd but just can't get into the right mood to watch it but can't make myself delete it either lol. The majority of the time if my t.v. is on it is on the classic movie channel.
