ABOUT ME

I love where I am in life. I grew up as the shy, awkward kid with a bad haircut and no fashion sense. As I grew in confidence in myself and who I wanted to be, I found myself to be a peacemaker with a big heart. I have finally found the balance I've sought all of my life and when I smile, it's genuine because I'm happy with who I am.

Photography is a hobby of mine and I have surrounded myself with images that speak to me the most. I love watching movies, especially with others. The Nintendo Entertainment System was my first love in life, though I don't game nearly as much as I used to. My friends would classify me as a nerd and I wear that mantle proudly! I do love attending conventions for people-watching and to capture what others funnel their passion towards. I refuse to completely grow up and sometimes I get lost in the toy aisle at Target. I also make faces at myself in the mirror on a regular basis.

PHILOSOPHY

I seek to understand the people around me. I love making people smile; nothing gives me greater joy. Well, that and a well-placed pun. You've been warned!

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't read as much as I used to, but I'm working on that. Lifelong Stephen King fan but have to say my favorite book right now is 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' ... it came out of left field and took the wind out of me. In a good way.

Arcade Fire's 'The Suburbs' is my favorite album of 2010, 'Odd Soul' by Mutemath my fave of 2011. Daft Punk gets my blood pumping. The last big concert I went to was Foo Fighters. Music is something that can be felt throughout your entire being. That moment when a song touches your soul and you turn to the person next to you and see it's done the same thing to them...there's nothing else like it.

I cherish films above perhaps all other forms of entertainment. I like all kinds, save musicals. Musicals are the bane of my existence with very few exceptions (see: Blues Brothers) Shawshank Redemption is my favorite movie. Some of my earliest memories are of watching John Wayne movies with my father. There's nothing like waiting in line for a midnight release with fellow fans, followed by the cheering and excitement of being with so many similarly-minded folk.

I don't watch much TV these days, but I have a few favorite shows. Babylon 5, The West Wing, LOST. I love re-watching with folks that haven't experienced them. I get to live vicariously through them!
