Trust in the kindness of strangers! For every time you're let down/tricked there are a hundred times your trust will be rewarded with a great experience.
Bring a plug-splitter on your trip; usually hotel rooms have only one plug and if you have multiple electronic devices (or you're with multiple persons) this way you don't have to take turns and monitor the charging.
