About Me

I've had a variety of jobs mostly relating to education and guiding. I love the outdoors and live my passion by working seasonal jobs in the outdoors. I was based in California for much of my life though I've also spent a fair amount of time working and living in other countries. I moved to Bozeman in 2017 to guide in Yellowstone and ski patrol in the winter. I then switched careers and went to nursing school during the pandemic and now I've been working as a nurse on a surgical floor for over a year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined CS while studying abroad for a year in Barcelona and quickly fell in love with how easy it was to meet people and became part of the local CS community. While living seasonally in various places I would host when I could but mostly used it to meet others and stay with locals when travelling abroad. Now I don't have as much time to travel but I get to host again when I have the time which I really enjoy.

Interests

I am a very active person and so most my hobbies center around outdoor activities and depend on the season. I also love to be around other people so I really enjoy summertime BBQs or winter evenings playing games with friends. When I manage to slow down and have along time I really enjoy reading and journaling especially in nature. I also love to cook and as a vegetarian I'm constantly trying new recipes from different countries since I like variety in my food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I'm a big fan of independent movies and foreign films though I enjoy most genres of movies
Music: My taste in music is always changing but I also enjoy a variety of music like bluegrass, classic and indie rock, reggae and electronica
Books: I love reading so there aren't many books I don't enjoy. A few books I've enjoyed reading are The Glass Castle, Jitterbug Perfume, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Behind The Beautiful Forevers, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and All The Light We Cannot See

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many things in this world that have just amazed me beyond belief that I don't know where to begin. Overall though its the people I meet conquering challenging and making their dreams come true that leave me in awe the most.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love sharing my outdoor hobbies with other people. Some of my favorite outdoor pursuits are skiing, rock climbing, trail running, and biking.
I love learning anything new but I'd really like to learn more about permaculture and natural design practices such as straw bale or earthships with the goal of one day building a place of my own.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking for others so that is my favorite thing to do for hosts when staying with them. I also enjoy sharing good conversation over some beers or wine. My other favorite thing to do with people is playing games so I'm always happy to play a round of cards or a board game (Settlers of Catan is one of my favorites).
