About Me

It’s me.. hi. I'm Ric! I have a wild soul for travelling. I think it’s the only thing I can keep doing without getting bored. My family came from the Chinese heritage but I grew up in Ph. I used to speak Mandarin (not Cantonese) when I was small but I think I focused so much on speaking English that I forgot most of my Mandarin 🫠. I'm quite easy-going, very open with almost all types of people and I kinda radiate a positive energy since I’m often smiling lol. And I really love to sleep as I can actually sleep anywhere (a 20-hour straight of sleeping is no challenge for me) 😬💤

I’m quite good with social media stuff and also theatre arts. In the university, I studied both communication arts and general education so I could say I’m pretty good with my social skills and dealing with kids as well. I’m also an animal advocate especially for the strays. Right now, I’m doing digital marketing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is one of those platforms wherein I met some of the best people I could possible imagine. These are the type of people you don’t meet in school or at work. I’ve been using it for years now. I say this a lot but the app has proven countless number of times that there are still a lot of good people in this world who will help you without expecting nothing in return.

One of my favorite quotes I’ve read on the internet is “finding your people makes you realize there was nothing wrong with you.” 🥺✨

Interests

I'm kinda divergent so I'll all down. Foodtrips, roadtrips, shopping, nightlife, etc

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- mostly American pop music.

Money Heist, Lost and Breaking Bad would be my top three fave series of all time. But for movies, my favorites would be Taare Zameen Par, The Spiderwick Chronicles and Your Name Engraved Herein.

Books- I have a complete collection of Diary of A Wimpy Kid when I was young. Now I mostly read articles online.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

how I managed to escape from two robbers held at knifepoint. This happened in Malé, Maldives. Until now, this was the most terrifying travel experience of my life and I can’t believe I had the guts to escape! 😮‍💨🪽

Teach, Learn, Share

everything from travel stories, language exchange, etc.

I actually read profiles before requesting so I can have a hint of your life lol. And I’m quite an independent traveller so please don’t feel bad if you can’t tour me around or something like that…it’s fine by me!

And I like to reciprocate things. For example, I had hosts who had the time that were so nice to cooked food for me. I like to reciprocate the favor by cleaning the dishes afterwards.

Also…a longtime friend! I mean this the best way but if ever you feel down or need someone to talk to, just hit me up if you want to chat. You can never know when our worlds will collide again but it happens! 🌎

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you're a traveller visiting the city I'm currently at, expect I will give you a tour of the best places, food, etc in town and be your photographer! And I get lots of compliments that I take really great photos *wink*

Also, I’ve been doing OMAD (one meal a day) or intermittent fasting (usually a 22/2 window when I’m home or 16/8 if I burn more calories on the day than usual like travelling) as my diet to keep my body type. I think I started it during pandemic so I could share to you some tips about my researches.

I could also teach you some stuff about creating contents on social media like editing or vlogging. I always love meeting new people with different backgrounds as mine. It makes me open-minded. It also expands my knowledge in some way and learning new things.
