About Me

Hi, I'm Riccardo, from Italy. I'm on a round-the-world trip that is going to last one or two years.
I studied biology and ecology, I love nature, diversity and challenges.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started a round-the-world voyage on the 23 Oct 2021, with the missions of coming in contact with differently-minded people and new cultures. Then I thought the best way to do so is to rediscover the value of hospitality, which is being lost where I live. If this happens to be also a cheap way to travel, well, that's great!
Besides this, I will also be looking for a natural park or a conservation NGO to work in, once the voyage is over.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to rock and Irish folk music, mostly, but also some pop and metal. Some great books? Those by Jules Verne, Isaac Asimov and John RR Tolkien. Stories of travels, pirates, ocean voyages, science fiction and loads of adventure. And also "Seagull Jonathan Livingstone" is a great short book.
A couple of movies? The treasure island and Forrest Gump.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was carrying out my research project in the forest of Costa Rica, last year, I saw so many natural beauties that I'm still dreaming of them. But most of all, the best thing was the night I hanged my hammock on a tree, 20m off the ground and then climbed to the top of the canopy to see the stars and then the dawn, just like the Hobbit scene in Murkwood.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm really curious and eager to learn new things and skills.
I studied biology and ecology, but I also love sailing with my friends on a small dinghy.
Since a few years back, I started to build rafts, then bottle canoes, then Inuit kayaks. The next step is going to be a real boat.
I like crafting things from scratch, to understand the whole process of manufacture. I'm good at carpentry and manual activities in general. (woodworking, bow making)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share what I have, myself and 16 kilos of backpack. I can share dreams and joy of living, maybe the passion for the stuff described above and stories about the past adventures.
