About Me

Hello!

My name is Richard, or Dick, I'm from Wisconsin and recently moved to Denver. I'm hoping to be a host here for the next few years. I love Skiing (Copper is my favorite), Hiking > Camping, Swimming, running, and riding my Vstrom 1000 through the mountains and across the country. I'll play you in Chess and Catan with some friends and probably lose most of the time (don't let me catch you cheating thought). I've been fortunate enough to travel extensively throughout my whole life as I grew up in an airline family.

My first international solo trip was when I was 15 years old, my parents caught me smoking pot in the spring and decided to ship me off to the Provence region of France for the summer. I stayed with a lovely French family, and even though I did not speak any French, I had a wonderful experience by the end of it and one day I'll be back.

I'd love to meet you first, I should have a couch or potentially a spare room in the future. I was never a foodie until a visited Malaysia about a year ago. You can contribute with food, good conversation, and cleaning up after yourself. If you can cook curry, know what good cheese is, or can make spicy food, you're in.

I am Catholic and I'll attend Sunday Masses, but I have atheist, conservative, asian, methodist, woke, fat, skinny, African, liberal, gay, trans, Trump and Biden supporting friends and family, so I get along with pretty much everyone. All I ask is no TV, I sold that crap 7 years ago and my life has been a constantly rewarding and epic adventure since.

I work a 2-2-3 schedule (12 hour shifts), so I'll have 2 days on and 2 days off and every other weekend is a 3 day weekend.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to increase my global friend group, so when I travel, I have friends to meet up with. This last summer, I helped my friend move from Barcelona to Madrid, and although it was more like 2 weeks of partying, it was such an organic and culturally rich experience exploring jazz clubs and wandering the streets making friends at night, I never could have had that experience without knowing someone who lived there for a while.

I hope to promote Denver as a great place to travel and visit and help those budget travelers out as I myself was a broke backpacker for a while. The cheapest hostel here is like $50 a night, what a rip-off!
