About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

I'm a lawyer, who lives and works in Norwich. I visited China this year, and am hoping to have more travelling adventures soon.

PHILOSOPHY

There is no spoon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've participated in the CS community here in Norwich for about a year now and many of my friends are CSers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed one time (in Paris, with an extremely welcoming and hospitable host) and I've travelled with other CSers a few times. I've just moved into a new flat so I'm able to open up my home as a host for the first time now.

Interests

I'm interested in the arts, particularly modern art and poetry, but also live music, theatre, literature and film. I like languages, and I try to work on my French regularly.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: V for Vendetta, The Straight Story, The Matrix, Dawn/Sean of the Dead, Point Blank, Life is Beautiful, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Music: Pink Floyd, RATM, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Black Sabbath, Kasabian (from my home town!), Blur, Radiohead, Rachmaninov (love that second piano concerto).

Books: Clockwork Orange, HG Wells, 1984, Brave New World, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold.

Poets: Larkin, Sappho, Cope, Catullus and lots, lots more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As it happens two swimming experiences stand out: I loved floating in the Dead Sea in Israel, watching the moon go down over the mountains. Equally, I loved splashing around in Lake Garda in the heat of the summer there.

China was also a fascinating travel experience with very hospitable people and lovely food.

Teach, Learn, Share

English Law (too boring?). The many and varied pubs of Norwich. General technical geekery, particularly Linux. I studied Classics (Latin and Ancient Greek), though that was long, long ago.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Israel, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

France, Switzerland, United Kingdom
