Hi there! We are an Indian-Dutch couple (Saima and Richard) who love to travel and who have had great experiences through the help of other people's generosity and hospitality. Now that we have a place of our own, we would love to give something back by hosting travellers like ourselves in our current home, Rotterdam(ish).

Richard grew up on the Dutch-Belgian border, so he knows the area quite well. Saima came to this part of the world as a traveller herself only a few years ago, so she can share what she found interesting, as well as what she didn't. Either way we'll happily welcome you to our home!

Separately, Saima visited most of India while Richard went through Europe, the Middle East and the occasional trip further afield. Together, we've lived in a few countries and travelled in many more. Our favourite trip has been Iran, a country with incredibly hospitable people (despite its regime), an experience that we hope to keep with us by applying the amazing hospitality we saw there in our own lives. Together we also went through (south)-eastern Europe and lived in Sweden, Slovenia, Belgium and Spain.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because we love travelling and meeting new people, and because we have both really benefited from the hospitality and kindness of people we met along our travels.

Interests

Our passion is travelling and all that comes with it. We love to be flexible, to go from one place to another without knowing what the next day may bring, and meeting people is one of the highlights.

Separately, Richard is into international relations and the environment, and he has an obsession with Jordan. Saima is good at making him shut up before boring the whole world, though, which is helpful for everyone involved.

Saima is an architect and sustainability specialist who loves to take pictures, although she never finds them good enough, so then more pictures have to be taken. She also loves our cat. A LOT.
