About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be a positive global citizen!

ABOUT ME

I'm a young Kiwi from the beautiful coastal city of Tauranga, New Zealand. Having worked and studied in the UK, Australia and USA over the last five years, I'm currently enjoying a few months travelling and language learning to start 2017. Whenever I get the chance to visit a new place, I enjoy strolling new neighbourhoods, visiting cafes and the tourist sights, and just chatting with locals and hopefully hearing their stories!

PHILOSOPHY

There's a great phrase in Maori, New Zealand's native language: "He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata." ... "What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm very new to this so my participation in the CS Project really is just to meet new people who share an interest in learning more about the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm still fairly new to CS! While I was living and working in Sydney, two friends of mine were kind enough to let me stay with them while I found my feet in the new location. They had had some amazing couch surfing experiences and I loved hearing about their experiences of the world. So I joined before taking a six-week trip across the USA, and stayed with CSers three times on that trip - without doubt, they were highlights of the trip. Wonderful people, wonderful coversations, and totally renewed my faith in the human spirit!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite music: anything but heavy stuff! John Mayer, Jack Johnson, any NZ music.
Movies: Good Morning Vietnam!
Books: lots of autobiographies! "Open" by Andre Agassi is #1, "Long Walk to Freedom" by Nelson Mandela

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A quick 15min walk over some farmland from Opito Bay, in the Coromandel region of NZ, is a small rocky outcrop that looks over some small islands and out to the Pacific. It remains the most beautiful place I've ever been. If God has a place at the beach, He made it right here!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Sweden, United Arab Emirates
