About Me

I'm an enthusiastic friend, a welcoming stranger, a scientifically-minded software engineer, an amateur musician, an outdoor enthusiast, an aspiring hippie. Currently I am traveling around the world to see beautiful places and meet wonderful people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I value nothing more than the people in my life, and I always have room for new friends. I think experiences in life are best when shared with others, and I believe society can benefit by trying to live with more communal ideas. I like to do favors for others, and love when people do nice things for me. It makes the world a better place.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Classic rock, especially Pink Floyd, Crosby Stills & Nash, Beatles, and countless others. I also enjoy hard rock/heavy metal, of the old and modern eras. I have a special appreciation for long and complex music, and like listening to full albums.

Movies: I enjoy all sorts of movies, but my film taste isn't something I feel defines me. The movies that are my favorite tend to be the pretty typical "good movies" (Shawshank Redemption, Lord of the Rings, Forrest Gump, Dark Knight, etc...) Although I have recently enjoyed the AI Sci-Fi films "Ex-Machina" and "Her" quite a lot. Sometimes I enjoy watching very bad movies, preferably with some friends and some beers.

Books: These days I mostly enjoy narrative nonfiction books. Accounts of great adventures, such as "Into Thin Air" or "Into the Wild". I find it easier to put myself into the story when I know it actually happened.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have summited Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa. It was an unforgettably wonderful experience, and it was coooooold.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a big fan of language learning. I have become fairly proficient in several European languages, as well as Hebrew. I always love the opportunity to practice and improve my language skills, and am happy to help others as well. I also have a passion for music, mathematics, astronomy, and computer science. I feel I could competently share knowledge about all four.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good company, respectful appreciation, and witty remarks. I'm not one to talk your ear off, but I love good conversation. I enjoy getting to know people, and sharing perspectives on life. I'm always happy to find ways to contribute.
